**Next London Meet - Sat 25th of November 06- Full details**

Postby Smiley » 06 Oct 2006, 17:13

Hello all,

It's that time again. After such a success of the latest wam meet we have decided to do another one. I know heading up to the last meet there was allot of discussion and topics raised, but it was good to see despite some group differences everyone pulled together for a great night. :D :D

We must remember we are all into so many different things so certain things are not always going to suit everybody but there is always room for all tastes if things are planned. :)

From previous group discussions we all obviously know there are 2 directions we are heading in. These are basically Vanilla meets and anything goes meets.

The direction the original London meet ups will be taking up from now on is Vanilla. Many thanks in advance to messymercedes who will hopefully be organizing a more out going meet up in February. I hope it's a huge success too. :D

I think choice is good, it allows people to choose what type of meet they fancy going to. Many people will most likely attend both. So there is no reason why any meet organized of what ever nature can't be a success.

Hopefully the above has cleared up a few things. - Okay so moving on.... :) :D

For the vanilla London meet we have decided to experiment a little. Here are the details. Question and Answers will follow...

<B>The Date:</B>Saturday 25th November 2006<B>
The Time:</B>From 16:00 <B>
The Location:</B>The Old Explorer - 23 Great Castle Street - W1G 0JA ( Just off Oxford Street ) Scroll down this topic for more information on the venue.

<B>How to find the right group:</B>

Bring a copy of the A-Z if you can. Simply leave the A-Z near you as the meeting gets underway so we can all find each other. The more A-Zs the better. Even if you don't have an A-Z use a London underground map.

<B>What’s the idea of these meets?</B>

The idea of these meets are for people from the wam community to meet other fellow wammers and old and new. It’s a top excuse to sink lots of beer, discuss all things wam, plan future events and generally get to know each other a little better in real life. Also a great place to offer your services, buy a few tapes and of course to have fun!

<B>So why a Saturday?</B>

Weeknights have always been a huge success but we have also had feedback from others asking to try out a Saturday again. So here we are! Plenty of interest has already been generated so hopefully a Saturday could be just as good as weeknight meets. I must point out at this stage that this is just an experiment so id like everyone to be aware that it wont necessarily always be Saturdays in the future.

<B>Why is it starting at 16:00?</B>

It gives people the opportunity to travel to and from London in a day if they wanted too, this would mean a saving on hotel bills etc. As this meet is also close ish to xmas it's a good excuse to say your going shopping in London for the day - then it's up to you if you really will go shopping haha.

<B>Im not from London am I invited?</B>

Of course you are, we have had people come long and far to attend these meets. If you up for it come along, it will be good to see you.

<B>Why are so many meets in London?</B>

Plenty of meet ups are in London because there are a lot of wammers in the south and to be honest it suits a lot of people living in the south, also it’s a easy place to commute to. We always encourage other fellow wammers to organize a meet where they live, such as our good friend Wamedeus who kindly organized a fantastic event in Newcastle. You will also be pleased to know Claymore_wam has a meet in Warrington on the 21st of October. See here - http://umd.net/forums.html?topicid=64804 for more information on that. Im hoping it will be another huge success and more meetings will happen down that way.

<B>Whats the dress code?</B>

I thought Claymore done a good job of explaining it on the Warrington post i think the same would be good for us at the moment. Here it is...

We should treat everyone with respect and try not to draw attention to ourselves. Remember it will also be a Saturday afternoon when the meeting starts. I'd suggest dressing normally rather than 'flamboyantly' (e.g. best to leave the cross-dressing and rubber gear at home! LoL.), using people's real names rather than using their fetish name, and talking quietly when discussing any fetish issues which could cause embarrassment. Remember that people who work with any of our group might be in the same pub and not everyone wants their fetishes broadcast!

<B>My top tips.</B>

Are you coming from a distance? Try www.nationalexpress.co.uk for coach tickets that start from just £1 Also http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ is the best site to look at if your thinking of coming by train. This site is very accurate with trains times and prices etc.

Thinking of staying the night and making a weekend of it - try www.travelodge.co.uk or www.lastminute.com

Okay thats about it for now, im hoping this thread will not turn into a free for all again, if there are any burning issues which might affect this thread or might affect the attendance of other wammers id rather you PMed them to me. Remember new people will be reading this, the last thing we are want is for them to be put off by strong topics of debate.
If there are issues which you feel you want to raise in public please consider if you feel it's suitable for this topic.

See you there! :D

Right then, I've had a quick look at me trains as they say. Could get the 11:15 ish out of Piccadilly arriving Euston 14:25 ish me rooms free at covent gardens (like its me own room!!!!!). Their are no shoots planned for this weekend. Going back the next day is pain from Manchester, but thats my problem...

The cheque from the goverment could come in handy I feel.

Let me know what pub and what area, I would most likely get in the pub for about 17:00 everyone ok with that.

Andy

Shop doorway lol, so many shops to choose from!

Well i think everything is confirmed other than the pub which i know sounds a bit odd but i can assure you it wont be very far away from where it is now. Put it this way, it should be inside the circle line on the London underground tube map.

At the worst it will be back at the Crown as it will be a Saturday.

Cheers

<B> LOCATION INFORMATION</B> :D

Easy_as and myself went on a quest to find the perfect pub - we did not have to look very far!

I am very please to announce the venue, here are the details.

<B>THE VENUE:</B>The Old Explorer - 23 Great Castle Street - W1G 0JA ( Just off Oxford Street )

This is a much larger pub than what we have been used to so plenty of seating and standing room. This pub has a main bar upstairs and an additional bar downstairs. It has a range of Real Ales, Beers, alcopops and spirits also hot food is available. I have also arranged for a free buffet for us all as long as we have over 15 people and ive also reserved some tables for us all.

We will most likely be based at the back of the main bar, on a slightly raised area, below a tv screen, just behind the staircase. Near some fruit machines.

As the venue is alot bigger everyone please bring an A-Z or Tube Map, plenty of maps will make it easy for new comers to spot.

Also you will be please to know we have an extra hours drinking time, with also a chance of maybe moving to another venue after - depending on what everyone wants to do. Who knows what looms.

<B>NEAREST TUBE: </B>Oxford Circus

<B>DIRECTIONS: </B>Come out of Oxford Circus station and cross the lights heading in the Regent Street direction, immediately take the first left into great Castle Street. It's a very short walk.

Tottenham court Road Tube is not to far away either, simply come out the station and walk all the way up Oxford Street, take a right into regents street ( heading towards great portland Street ) then almost immediately take a left into Great Castle Street and you will see the pub. Also alot of Buses pass run near by.

www.londontransport.co.uk has a great journey planner. This is a great place to plan your route in advance. Try not to pay a cash fair on the tubes or buses, consider getting an oyster card it will work out alot cheaper more information on the site.

Cheers :D

Lol, well i think there is more than one screen, and when i was there it was on mute with Sky news on or something like that as indeed most pubs do these days :) So i doubt very much anyone will be facing in our direction.

See you there. :)

We had a near catoclismic experience then, I just suddenly realized why the date of 26th November was so important, it use to be the Network Q rally of Britian, now that I cannot miss, lucky its inbetween Newland and and Britian, this year, the must have know and moved the dates.

Now i'm off to argue with travelodge as the sites playing up again about booking!!!!! narf!!!!!!

Is there some kind of bizarre geographical exchange goingon?

You live in Manchester and are going to London meet.

I live on South cast and will probably be going to Warrington...

No wonder private rail companies make money
