Public Reactions?

Postby alext » 10 Oct 2006, 16:03

I found a very nice spot for mudding earlier today, and during a wallow, I wondered what would happen if someone had discovered me - would they ignore it and walk on? Would they find it funny? Would it be met with hostility and anger?

So, I'm curious - has anyone here been discovered during an outdoor (or indoor) WAM session, and, if so, what reaction were they met with?

This is one for Andy and the Wamdrogeny crowd....and Mercedes, of course, who seems to revel in an audience.

I doubt anyone would be angry, and being British people would probably ignore you until you lit up a post-sploshing cigarette and they'd say snottily "Do you mind? We're trying to eat our picnic."

I am prepared to be proved wrong but I think the majority of the british public are ether quite tolerant or to embrest to say anything

a few years ago I was in Edinburgh for the festival and when we drove on the medows there was a couple having sex in the middle of the park and everyone was ignoring them

that said when we started driving lorries arond them and knocking in stakes they just caried on not wanting to lose rhythm clearly

maybe thats why people left them :?

I can vouch that Mercedes does not give a damn, she has sat and chatted to 2 women dogwalkers at the clayponds covered in mud who were asking her what she was doing it for, Christ knows what she was telling them but they were all cracking up laughing.
And she actively involved a groups of lads who were watching one of her gunge shoots in a beauty spot.

We do a similar style to Dids and Cedes we are never rude to anybody and where possible when filiming outside start the conversation. As Miss Helen has stated before most people dont give a damn their too caught up in their own lives to have as much fun as everybody does here.

My highlight for the outside work was at Boothstown at lake Aboso is it now called (did i say that right???) we had somebody flying round watching us for about ten mins it was so funny.

Does this mean the lake had an ASBO for not doing it's citizen's duty by making a citizen's arrest on Andy.

Reminds me of the joke Victoria Wood used to tell;

"Just across the train there was a couple having sex. No-one said anything, it's a British train, they just looked the other way. When they were finished they lit up a cigarette each, the woman nearest said, "Excuse me, I think you'll find this is a No-Smoking carriage!".

I think really it depends on what your doing. If you're having a playful romp in the mud then the worst you're going to seem is a bit weird, eccentric but essentially harmless. If you're standing there butt naked and spanking the monkey with abandon, passers-by will be less impressed.

Basically keep out of the way where possible but don't run if you're not being chased (if you want to look like a guilty pervert go ahead and dart furtively between the trees), if you do encounter passers-by be as civil as you would be at any other time. As I've mentioned before, a camera is a great equaliser (then you can call it art, sweetie) but even then, play nicely and keep it PG if there's any chance whatsover of encountering the public.

I used to live in Essex and know that there is some good mud locations on the coast, I remember going out at Bradwell for muscles, came back rather the worse for wear, not many mussles did I find, I thought that I would use my body rather than a rake, got a few funny looks from the bird watchers there as well.

I found a nice muddy spot so I will have a bit of fun later, maybe I will take some pictures and post, you never know !!.

I had an email from someone telling me of the mud locations in Belfast and around the Antrim coast, might have to check them out this coming spring... i've never quite explored to see.

I'm sure if i did i'd bring my sister with me or someone to keep watch.... most people wouldnt bother me, the only people I'd worry about are "chav" types... anyone else i'd happily wave and smile at.

not really had many passers by see me wamming
but have been stopped by nosey coppers a few times, omg i just love the reactions they come out with,
one night after i had been in the mud at the thames as Laura a couple of coppers came to see what i was upto, one was generally going about his buisness, "what you doing, are you up to no good" etc
but the other one was standing there baffeled out of his poor little mind :D
technically if you have right of passage on the land, in this case the thames, there is bugger all they can do, so i was just loving winding up this other copper, he was like " why?" " i dont gettit"
as they got back in thier car and buggered off the look on that coppers face was priceless, i really wish i had my camera to take a pic of him LOL

me and cynthia did however have a visit from a dog walker one night on a golf course while we were having sex, it was the dog we realised was there first , could hear it sniffing LOL, they just walked on by.

i think if you are with someone else rather than on your own when outdoor wamming or mudding its far less embarassing or at least you dont look like such a nutter.
