Lack of Mud at the Moment

Dear all,

Been out all afternoon looking for a good spot to get muddy, however, it has been impossible to find anywhere close by again. I used to have lots of fun in old marl pits in fields, but these are all dry, or most of them are now because of all the dry weather. Can't even find a good muddy puddle to wallow in for a few minutes.

Must admit very jealous of the texture and quality of the Mud Mercedes has access to, may have to go back to making up some of my own again in the stable, but somehow that not as fun as finding a good countryside spot

Their is no problem in the Manchester both Astley pond and lake Aboso are full at the mo plenty of mud and smell water etc, the farms are doing quite nicecly at the mo. (plenty of pig pens to roll about in Hayley.)

Muckypup where abouts are you??????

Their is a belting one in Astley just over the canal, quite big nobody ever goes their. Their is another good one in Boothstown which can get really messy and smelly in. Plus their are some farms near by. I have not spoke to them yet, but me being me I will.

I live south Manchester/Cheshire way. I haven't been mudlarking yet but i'll give it a go sometime!

Had to look where those places are. They are a little way, but definitely doable!

I've also posted the location of useful mud/clay in some secluded country areas just south-west of Chester at my site. See link below for full OS-map co-ordinates and descriptions. I was there a couple of weeks ago for the first time in 2-3 years and it was just as good as ever! :-)

Dead easy for you - M56, M53, A41, A534. Should be there in about 35-40 mins from South Manchester. Takes me about an hour from north of Liverpool as I have to do 20-30 mins of clogged A roads until I get to the tunnel and M53. It's not big pond-style areas, just big shin-deep clay puddles on the footpaths but they're still good for a little wallow and very secluded out in the fields so I was able to slip out of my cycle gear which was covering my tights and slip on a skirt and some panties and have some fun pouring the sloppy clay into them! ;-)

Ah, found some at last, visited an old spot that I used to have fun with as a kid, lots of textured mud, had to do a little work with a spade to make it work and dam the dyke slightly to ensure that the mud gets nice a soft, it cuts through a white clay seam as well, so lots of interesting fun tomorrow I think :wink:

I should have enough to fully submerge myself.

In reply to Mercedes I used to live in Essex and know that there is some good mud locations on the coast, I remember going out at Bradwell for muscles, came back rather the worse for wear, not many mussles did I find, I thought that I would use my body rather than a rake, got a few funny looks from the bird watchers there as well.

Maybe I will take some pictures and post, you never know !!.
