How did WSM commence?
With Image sets.
We have 3 new Image sets and find out why the movie for Slapstick set S061, shot August 1989 with Professor Treacle and Melanie, was junked!
We revisit a classic mud image set from 1988 (sorry no movie) with Debbie.
We see ordinary housewife Sabean wet in the bath in long white dress, image set W171 shot 1995, before a wet mini-set of Caroline under a shower from 1982 in blouse and jeans (and take a quick look back at Caroline’s butterscotch sauce set).

Continuing our Images theme of this week, we look again at the very first Images set shot by Custard Couple (CC) in 2009 which we published June 2011 titled ‘Wet Car Wash’ with 75 shots.
And for Valentines Day we show again Mrs. Custard Couple (CC) getting rather foamy in her red outfit in movie CC63 and image set S369.

SLAPSTICK
New Image set S061 is added with 66 shots.
But there is no movie!
One of the most difficult aspects of an outdoor shoot is setting a date.
Set the wrong date and disaster can follow.
It is all to do with the weather!
And so it turned out!
It did not rain, but the wind blew very strongly!
With a large table of food set out on a tablecloth in a meadow……the results were grim and show in some of the image shots, especially at the commencement.
In Image set S061, Professor Treacle was determined to show Melanie (not Mel, who came 15 years later) a good slapstick time – see sample shot 1.
Despite the wind, they set about the shoot.
The Prof loses no time in getting to grips with Melanie and soon has her blouse open as he pastes her with food.
Unable to contain himself, the Prof smashes eggs over her head – see sample shot 2.
Then it is a custard hair-do for Melanie.
She retaliates against the Prof smothering beans on his head and face.
Melanie follows this up with custard.
Then, grabbing a can each, they shake them over each other’s heads.
Melanie seems to come off worse from tomato soup.
The Prof has food massaged into his shirt (while his hand furtively seeks another egg!)
Positions are reversed as a tall but messy Prof looks down on Melanie’s struggles to mess him up!
Time for action by Prof Treacle as he leans her over the table and hoists her skirt.
A carton of custard goes down the back of her knickers!
Kneeling, the Prof pulls back the front of her skirt and puts golden syrup over her knickers – see sample shot 3.
Then Melanie is attacked with beans (always a favourite of the Prof.).
We see a totally messed-up bedraggled Melanie.
Melanie turns the tables as the Prof lowers his trousers inserting a carton of custard down the back of his underpants.
Melanie stretches to deposit a large container of mayonnaise over his head!
The Prof attacks again splattering Melanie with chocolate sauce and rice pudding.
By now they are both very messy but continue to grapple and try and mess each other up.
The Prof’s shirt and trousers are removed.
Likewise, Melanie loses her skirt.
The Prof delights in smearing golden syrup over a very messy Melanie – see sample shot 4.
The messy mayhem continues with the table looking well ravaged with a collection of empties.
The Prof now down to his underpants and socks gets a carton of custard down the front of his underpants.
Then it is time to move in close as he wrestles Melanie to the ground.
As our cameraman Shaun had already indicated that the wind had destroyed his film, we end with Mel posing in her messy state.
We show a fine messy close-up of Melanie in the concluding shots – see sample shot 5.
So a great shame to end without a movie.
But editing in 1989 was very difficult and Shaun did not want to put out second rate material.
So to Professor Treacle’s chagrin, the movie was junked…….but at least we have the image set.

MUDLARKING
Here is a mud image set that was much talked about when first published.
Shot in September 1988 set M083 features DEBBIE in some very sloshy mud.
We have to thank my good friend Roger Carpenter of Aquantics for the supply of this set.
Roger lives in Tenby, South Wales and this shoot was 18 miles away at Landshipping.
Debbie’s outfit was very carefully chosen with a grey suit, white blouse, white stockings, white suspenders, white knickers and black heels.
Debbie went ready dressed.
We had timed the tide perfectly and there was an inviting muddy area.
Debbie got stuck in and we produced some very memorable shots.
At the end, it was the intention for Debbie to wash off in a little stream.
But when we finished, the tide was at its lowest.
There was a very steep embankment to the stream, but it was a mud embankment.
So, no way of getting out clean!
It was then discovered that the towels had been forgotten!
So poor Debbie was wrapped in black plastic bin bags and amazed some Tenby residents upon her return!
So filming is easy……don’t you believe it!
We show 97 images of that shoot in set M083.
It did change conceptions about how muddy a girl could get!
Sadly, it was before the coming of universal camcorders, so there is no video.
But enjoy these sample pics with 5 shots of Debbie from set M083.
A true classic in the annals of WSM.
