Re: Stopping smoking (off topic)
Not really any help but I tried many times to give up smoking with very little success. What I didn't realise at the time was that I probably didn't REALLY want to give up.
The day I gave up for good was when I reached for a cigarette whilst driving down the M6. I suddenly realised I was doing it from habit and boredom. Both the packet of cigarettes and the lighter went out the window and I never smoked again.
I also apologise for littering which is something I hate but it served a purpose at the time.

Re: Stopping smoking (off topic)
Have smoked just about everything (!) over the years - cigs, cigars, pipe... but very lucky in that it was never a 'habit' just something else to do in the pub. So when smoking ban came in after a period of 'bonding with the smokers' I gave up completely. Miss it after a few drinks but otherwise, as I say, I am very lucky. Think of the money you can spend on other things...like custard, that may help. Or use it to save for something you REALLY want.
Sorry not much help, but good luck.

No, I didn't have any withdrawal symptoms but I think this was due to mind making me give up. Strangely I also ate less which is not normal i gather. Sadly the weight loss didn't continue!
Re: Stopping smoking (off topic)
My daughter did it, my ex-wife did it, and my step-daughter did it; all by reading a book, and they kept on at me about it.
Eventually, in the run-up to one Xmas, I decided I had to stop smoking, and to read the book. If one can understand this, I was frightened it wouldn't work ... and also frightened that it would.
I started reading the book over Xmas and had finished it about the first week in January. I put the book down, and I had stopped, although perhaps I didn't know that at the time. I haven't missed them at all, I've had no cravings. After over 42 years smoking, I've stopped.
The book? ... "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr ... I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Mike.

Re: Stopping smoking (off topic)
I stopped many years ago, it might even have been last millennium(!), I stopped with the aid of nicotine patches on my arm and chest. Didn't use the chewing gum as I find gum almost as revolting as cigarettes.
Good luck, Candy.

Electric Cigarettes!!
I was a 40 a day smoker, started smoking electric ones just at night time and where I couldn't smoke normal ones, then made the switch to totally electric.
The trick is, not to think of yourself as giving up, but to think of it as smoking, say, a different brand.
Best thing is, I can smoke the odd cigarette here and there socially, like one or two a month and just go back to the electrics without issue or guilt.
The electric ones taste better anyways.
Just need to make sure they are well maintained and charged.
Good Luck either way.

Re: Stopping smoking (off topic)
Thanks Leon. I was having anything between 20 and 40 a day. I am finding that I'm fine just holding onto and having the odd drag of the e-cig in the evenings. Daytimes when I'm more busy, it hasn't been a prob at all. Talking of busy, got a session to clean up from now so best get on with it
Very glad to hear the e-cigs are working nicely for you, that's excellent. *big thumbs up smiley*

Re: Stopping smoking (off topic)
I found myself doing it just out of boredom and just got into a routine of having a fag at certain times of the day etc, gave up last Tuesday, no help just cold turkey, been using normal Extra chewing gum when I would have normally had a fag and it seems OK so far, plus been on 2 nights out at the pub which would normally be the killer for me.
As for advice, I can just suggest, try and keep your mind on other things and your hands busy, and fingers crossed you should be OK
