OT Check your paypal accounts

Hello all

Long time lurker first time poster and I "pop my forum cherry" as it were with a word of warning

I discovered yesterday afternoon that some miscreant in the WAM community has hacked my paypal account and bought $930US of downloads from various messy sites on my account in under a month!

Now the only people I hold responsible for this are myself for not keeping an eye on my paypal account on a regular basis (yes I know before anyone says it I am a muppet but it is hard to keep track of these things when you are living in cars 5 days a week) and the person who stole my money I have raised this issue with paypal to try and get my money back I will also be speaking with my bank to see if they can help but I am not holding my breath.

Hopefully the criminal Justice system will catch this person but I very much doubt it.

So I urge everyone to keep an eye on their online payment accounts(paypal etc) so you dont come a cropper to the same thing

Think I might know why you've posted this. I did email Paypal as soon as I noticed the buyer, hopefully that puts some (or all) of the possible liability on them, not the sellers...

to answer the second part first I am a buyer who has been hacked

The good news is that it looks like paypal are on the case as I am starting to see money coming back to my paypal account. It would seem from your reply that whoever hacked my account has done it before hopefully since paypal may now have more ammunition they may be able to catch this person.

Thanks for spotting what was happening on your end of things it means I might get most if not all my money back relatively quickly
