WAM and comedy

I've also posted this on the UMD, so apologies to anyone who has to read it twice, but I'm really interested in getting some feedback on this topic.

Given that slapstick is essentially a comedic conceit, I was wondering, do you guys actually find pies in the face and all that actually funny? We wammers enjoy it for other reasons, after all. What then is the relationship between humour and eroticism? Many producers seem to produce stuff that at least seems to respect the conventions of slapstick comedy, but mostly it seems that these tropes act mostly as triggers for a sexual response - having girls say "I don't know" before getting slimed for example. I've noticed that I do find myself smiling at these things, but I'm not sure I really think they're actually massively funny.

I'm not sure if I really have a point to make, I'm just interested in hearing what the rest of you think about this. So, discuss!

I think humiliation comes into the equation as well as, 'thank goodness that isn't me'

For me personally some comedy element is essential in material you watch. Somebody just having a bucket of gunge poured over them for no reason does very little for me. It is the playacting, the comedy conventions (surprise, the anticipation and all the phrases that go with it), the iconoclastic nature of it (better word than humiliation in my view), the looks to camera and the general 'misbehaviour' that of sploshing that works for me.

However when actually doing it, humour (whilst I still like it and is still a turn on) is less essential in my view. Then you have the feel of the substances, the feel of your partner and whatever sexual activity is going on to add to the mix. As a result real life sessions tend to start funny and end up sensual....

Hi Nick (I've posted a reply on your UMD thread as well).

For me humour (especially in watching WAM) is all part of the sense of 'escapism': a glutinous visual feast of anarchy, theatre, and the female form (decadence). It turns me on and entertains.

When I've got my wife messy (I'm not too fussed about being messy myself, but then again, not averse to it), it really has to become about something else (and for most women, into WAM or not, it's sensuality) or it's not going to be much of a 'shared' experience.

For me its the 'role play' aspect. There must be some reason that I'm in a sploshing situation. Whilst I don't actually write a detailed script, I like to outline a rough scenario and rely on the lady (or ladies) to interact with me. It doesn't matter how daft or corny the idea, its sufficient to act as a framework on which to hang the messy action.

I tend to agree with Bill on this one. It probably explains why I've been a Splosh fan since Issue 1 As a one off action I don't find the pie in the face particularly funny but combine it with sploshy play acting or roleplay as Richard says and I love it.
