Couple stuck up to waist in Dorset forest swamp rescued
A married couple had to be rescued after becoming stuck up to their waists in a swamp in Dorset during a search for their missing dog.

They became trapped in a swampy area of Wareham Forest, near the Blackheath sewage works, Dorset fire service said.

"They'd been walking their dog while still daylight but had become separated from it and ran into difficulty whilst looking for it," a spokeswoman said.

The couple and their dog were located and rescued on Sunday night.

The husband made a 999 call from his mobile phone at about 18:30 GMT after he and his wife had become trapped.

"Due to the nature of the terrain the service's water and rope team was mobilised," the fire spokeswoman added.

The fire service, assisted by the police, found the couple and led them to safety at 19:30 GMT.
