The Big Splosh! Dirty Mac RIP

Postby BillShipton » 26 Jan 2012, 16:41

It is with great sadness I have to announce the demise of my large Apple Mac computer. For fifteen years it has faithfully edited Splosh! videos & downloads and stored copies of them. However, on Monday night, she started showing signs what looked like terminal illness. After being rushed into the Apple hospital and a thorough examination, the cyber surgeon said that sadly there was nothing more they could do and the kindest thing would be to have her put to sleep. Not wanting my old faithful friend to suffer any more, this I have done.

The dying wish of the Mac was that its organs help other less fortunate computers and consequently its hard disks have been removed and transplanted so their contents will be used to bring life to other otherwise terminally dull machines. Right now an Apple iMac is being given a transfusion of custard-and-treacle-covered women on MP4 enabling it to have a life it could previously only ever imagine. So rest assured, her great gift to the world will continue...

On behalf of all those who enjoyed her work, I am sure you will join me in paying tribute to the brilliant performance and true professionalism of my old friend. We have been together since 1997 with barely a day apart and I shall miss her dearly. However, I must move on and the iMac is already proving a valued colleague - though of course nothing could ever replace my Dirty Old Mac.

A lengthy memorial service and blessing is to be held in the pub on Friday 28th Jan.

No flowers, please, but donations and beer will be accepted.

The only amusing part of yesterday was the when the ever-so-respectable (big house in nice Sussex Village with Discovery in the drive) man who mends my Mac handed me the disks.

"I've labelled them so you know what's on them," he said with a knowing smile. So he must know what's on them too, I thought. Then I remembered that all the Saffy pics were still on the desktop page. Oh well, he didn't seem to mind.
