I wanted to give a early heads up this year for the London meet so people can book hotels and make travel plans early which should save a few quid.

The main post will follow nearer the time but the date will be Thursday the 3rd of November 2011 from 5pm at The Penderals Oak in Holborn.
Hotels
I have searched hotels and have found Travelodge (http://www.travelodge.co.uk) to be the best value at the moment. I have booked Farringdon Travelodge for £35.75 which is a mile away from the meet (about a 20 minute walk or 5 minute cab ride) but there are plenty of other London locations to choose from at a good price.
Also the regulars like to use the imperial hotel (http://www.imperialhotels.co.uk), a bit more up market from your average hotel, so if you do decide to stay here im sure you wont be on your own.
Travel
Coaches
You can always book on the http://www.nationalexpress.com website in advance for some cheap deals, at the moment Birmingham, Manchester are around £25 return, Newcastle £35, Southampton £18.
Trains
The best site is http://www.thetrainline.com . You can book up to 3 months in advance and have your tickets posted which will save you some money. If you travel around a bit you might find a railcard will save you around a third on a fair, it's a £25 investment but you should see a return if you make more than two trips.

And finally
We want to continue to keep the normal set up in Holborn going each November and we could certainly do with more hosts to help out. This original style meet type we want to keep (but would welcome suggestions if you think we can make it better).
At the meets people have expressed interest in doing a meet up in a private function room or club which could involve mess on the night. To organize something like this we need your help to set it up.
So if you want to help host the classic London Meets or help arrange a new event for London (or both), then please drop us a line, either by e mail or pm. And if you have any suggestions it would be great to hear.
