Schoolgirl in the pond
passers by
Miss Helen has the art of people passing by down to a fine art, just says hello and carrys on anyway. The first time I saw this was on the humber somebody came over in about and Miss Helen started chatting away they just didn't know what to do...
Thats just reminded me their was one person up Rivington and he didn't know what to do either so he started telling his dog off!!!!! how mad!!!!

On the topic of passers by, thought I'd paste in what I had to say on the subject in a discussion with (quicksand goddess) Loch Ness over on our board. The bit about the fossil hunters is there because they tend to be around whenever I go looking for quicksand in landslips and cliff falls.

Being followed isn't really a problem for us, most people just don't care, or even notice that we're walking past them covered in gunk. Having cameras helps, because then you can say it's art, but no-one asks anyway.
We look for places we can have to ourselves so as to have some privacy to play with and not to involve others, but the passers-by who do appear tend to be;
Kids - the biggest nuisance because a) unlike adults they are actually curious and also have more interest in avoiding public paths than sticking to them b) obvious embarassment factor and the need to avoid making the tabloids or mentally scarring them for life, c) you can't predict what they'll do or how they'll react and d) if they sneak into shot in the background, that's the photo buggered.
Dog walkers - look for open, private areas so they can let their dog of the leash. Their animals are more of a pest than the owners, who on happening across such a bizarre scene will usually just want to head the other way as quickly as possible. The dogs, however, are much more interested, resulting in much embarassment all round.
Sometimes the dog walker will be of the tut-tut-I-know-what's-best-for-everyone brigade (usually middle aged, stumpy and no taller than about 5'4) and will stand there looking on disapprovingly. I like these people, they're great fun to play with, because they can't handle it when you wave and act all friendly.
Fossil hunters - you don't exist to them if you're less than 10,000 years old, so they are not a problem.
Our best ever passers-by showed up after our Humber mud shoot on Good Friday, we emerged from the reeds covered in mud to find the local church's walk of witness coming down the riverbank lugging a great wooden cross. They were all quite civil, though if they'd come just ten minutes earlier we'd have definitely given them something to witness.

Good luck on Monday, Andy.
I'll forgive the Wamdrogeny plug cos they are such good posters here. It's the ones that don't who piss me off.
Talking of which, I'm thinking of making it a rule of membershiop that you can't post on this forum until you have posted (or at least sent me) a picture of you in schoolgirl uniform - men, women, the lot! Preferably messy! Okay, it's only for my pleasure, but what the hell...
Love
Hayley
