Medieval messy game?

Postby wampony » 15 May 2010, 13:59

Hi, I have had this great idea for getting messy after seeing an advert for a medieval day at a castle.

My idea is to have a jousting competition, but instead of using a lance, the idea is to throw a cream cake or similar at your opponent as they ride towards you, while trying to avoid the one they throw at you. When you reach the end of the arena, you turn round, reload with another cake, and ride back towards each other.
Not sure how you would determine the winner, could be number of hits, or managing to stay on your horse longest, etc.

It is just an idea, but one day I would like to have a go at it.
Now all I would need is another person to be my opponent (probably no problem there)
Somewhere to stage it
A pair of horses which don't mind getting messy
Someone to teach me to ride the horse
Someone to video the event.
A large supply of 'ammo'
Some training as I am not a very good shot
A large tank of warm soapy water to clean up with afterwards (not forgetting the horses will need a wash)

So all in all, looking at the above list, it will never happen, although I can dream.

What other ideas do people have for getting messy that they would like to do but are just impossible?

Of you could do this - you just need human horses. Two teams of two people each, each with a 'knight' sitting on the shoulders of their 'steed'. Arm the knights with messy stuff, face each other and charge.

Now, that'd be fun! :)

It does sound fun, im sure it's somthing that could be done if we all put our heads togeather.

I would be un sure about the horses bit, have you considered using somtime like push bikes or shopping trolleys.

If someone could spare a large room or some open land we could have a good event going on here.

I think it would be fun to arrange some kind of fun wam day, with silly events going on like this. I think we have enouth people to make this a success these days.

Thinking caps on...

That would be brilliant if someone had the land to do it on. I've always wanted to have a gathering of people in a large house that has been fully converted for sploshing. So there'd be trap doors leading to pools of gunge, spring loaded cupboards that would pie people when they opened them, a large mudpit outside, etc. I suppose that falls under the "if money was no object" category.

Who knows....the £84m Euromillions winner could be a splosher?

Hi,
Sorry I did not mean to cause upset/offence by my suggestion of using real horses for this jousting thing, it was just a silly idea I had when I saw the advert, and I had also consumed a rather large quantity of alcohol as well

Although in saying that, one of my friends has a horse which I think has sploshing tendancys, as every time it is out in the field when it rains, it rolls round in the thickest mud it can find until it is totally covered, also covering it's rugs (going out in jacket, for those who don't know) and the worst part of all is- IT CAN GET AWAY WITH IT, AND I CANT!!!

However, in real terms it is probably not fair to use real horses, so I like the idea of using shopping trolleys instead, being pushed by someone else. If this was done, then everyone could have a go at being in the trolley to do the throwing, and also pushing it along, making it fair for all involved.

Sounds fun, and might just be possible one day to do this.

Well we can hope anyway!
