Meets. Yorkshire Area

Postby LucindaAngelina » 27 Sep 2009, 17:36

It's been mentioned before on here and there are successful meets in London & Warrington.

I think a couple of years ago one was arranged for Leeds.

Now I'm probably not the best person to really see about a Yorkshire meet as I guess I tend to be a bit shy (honest guv!) and I'm not a "mainline splosher" I guess more a "voyeur"" of orthers activities as my chances of sploshing tend to be limited ...

Sheffield is pretty central for the area, maybe the town is bit more scattered around than places such as Leeds but there are some good pubs with food, real ale, quieter areas, beer gardens/smoke areas that could be used. The Queens Head (has it's own ghosts!) several groups meet there including the local pagan mob, paranormal group, compter geeks and roleplay types. But it is a "normal" old pub, serves good food, just avoid it if football is on big screen but even then there are quiet areas. Its close to the railway station, bus station, main shopping areas and hotels. The Hillsborough Hotel, maybe best avoid the area if Sheffield Wednesday was playing at home. Has its own brewery onsite and accommodation and the conservatory room has a good view over the valley! http://www.hillsborough-hotel.co.uk Just a short tram ride from the city centre and is part of a trail of several real ale bars in that area of sheffield

There are plenty of other places and if an afternoon/evening meet was arranged there are other places to head into the night with clubs, theatres and if you get the right weekend burlesque events.

Other possible option would be a meet in Leeds as the other fairly central large venue or going southward a bit Derby or Nottingham

Really the post is to see who might be interested in "running" a meet or attending and where in Yorkshire.

Like I say I probably ain't the best person to organise things but can help suggest!

Hi

I don't want to run it (got quite enough on already!) but would be a supporter for all the reasons I've mentioned bbefore.
