Never believe what you are told-or death of my pony shirt

Hi everyone, today I have made a big mistake in my quest for sploshing fun. Let me tell you about it.

A few years ago I was talking to someone I knew, when I noticed they had green spray on their arm.
I said "I didn't think you would be spraying cars at work", she replied "No, I've been spray-marking piglets today"
She then went on to say that pig (or sheep) marking spray washes off skin with warm soapy water and does't stain your skin.
I aquired a tin of spray marker for pigs and put it in the shed for future use.
By the way she had no idea what I was asking her about it for.
Fast forward to today, and when I was clearing out the shed I found it. Well I decided to try it out big style, the colour of this spray is bright pink.
I sat in the (empty) bath in my favourite sploshing shirt, the one with the pink pony on it, and decided pony would look better a bit brighter.
I sprayed this stuff all over the shirt, then tried to wash it off my hands so I could change the batteries in the camera- IT WOULDN'T COME OFF!!!

I decided therefore that the easiest way to remove the shirt was to rip it off, as I didn't want any of this pink stuff on my face, so that was the end of my pony shirt. Shame as it has survived some fantastic messes in the past, but not this one.

However, as can be seen in the pictures this pink stuff was all over me as it had soaked through the clothes. I resorted to industrial hand cleaner specially formulated to remove paint, and this removed about 95% of it, but I still have pink stains on my body and legs, and my hands.
Next problem came when I started sneezing-not going into extreme details but I had got overspray up my nose. This stuff doesn't exactly dry like normal paint, so I now have pink nostrils as well.

The other problem is the pink has stained the bath slightly as well, this could take some explaining away, I have tried scrubbing it with Jif cream and there is still a slight stain.

So all in all, while a fun thing to do at first, the clean-up has taken all afternoon, and still some more to do.
So much for this stuff washing away with warm soapy water, I think it will take a week to get rid of it.

So take care when people tell you something cleans up easily, and if in doubt test on a small hidden area first!

Here are some pictures.

Oh dear!

..er.... this may be obvious now but, if it washed off, would it actually be any use on pigs and sheep out in the rain? They stay marked all year so that the farmers can see who owns which animal if they escape!

So long as you have a vitreous-enamelled bath (not sprayed or plastic) then you probably need to use some car paint thinners. Don't use it unless you're sure it's vitreous or you'll melt the surface!!

Hope the fact that this post reminded me that I promised to do some cute wet t-shirts for you makes up for its death a tiny bit?

Hi, I suppose now you mention it, perhaps it wasn't the brightest idea to use this spray, but the girl who told me about it definately told me it washes off with warm soapy water, I supposed that although animals get wet they don't get soapy as well.

Eden, a picture of you in your pony shirt would make up for the death of mine, I loved sploshing that shirt so I suppose it was bound to happen eventually, the poor thing was stained with various things including mud, chocolate cake and gravy and it had been covered in eggs, cream, spaghetti, beans and molasses amongst other things, so I suppose it did well to survive this long. I may have to try and get another one someday.

By the way, most of the pink has faded off me today, I now only have some on my hand and fingernails.
I explained it away by saying I had been painting over the weekend, and had got some on my hand-well it is sort of true!!

Hmm, too small for me, the one I had was a size 16 (I think), I would need a size 14 to wear it comfortably but I will keep looking, there are more designs and colours to choose from other than the one I had.
I have finally shifted the pink staining off my hands, at last.
