Hiya
In my view it starts out well but does the usual thing of decending into a free-for-all. If they'd kept up the tit-4-tat style with pies and cream etc it could have been a classic. Still my fave kind of routine tho!

That brought back memories of watching that show on Friday nights. Hard to believe it's been 15 to 20 years since then.
I did appreciate Urkle's line just before the free for all. "I do find this strangely arousing."
Nice find thanks.

I agree with Hayley - the tit for tat is great, but then degenerates into a free for all.
This is sadly often the case. i remembered a great scene from the film Smashing Time where Rita tushingham was involved in a messy tit for tat with a waitress. But when i looked on you tube all i could find was this disappointing scene

is my memory playing tricks, is there another scene, or is it a different film?
Carry on Films were bad at setting up good pie fights, but then spoiling then with a free for all where we don't get to see much. At least the Great Race has a lot of Natalie Wood's pied face, and 'how dare you' expressions.
However, these were AL BBS - before Bill Shipton, who came along and make our dreams of messy scenes come true.
Anyway sillysod, good clip, thanks.

Good to see the much ignored Smashing Time again! It had several messy scenes involving Rita Tushingham and Lyn Redgrave, the other major one being the squirty sauce/paint fight which is a bit disappointing too. At least the pie fight does try to recreate some of the Laurel & Hardy Battle of the Century gags.
Personally I like the film cos it was made at the height of Swinging London in the 60s (which I just about remember) and has lots of old British bit part actors in it - Cardew Robinson in the pie fight, Sam Kydd in the paint battle etc. Oh, and I fancy Lyn Redgrave in it!
Today's useless fact, the screenplay was by George Melly!
