A lot of videos on you tube show people being hit in the face with pies made with pastry base's.These pastry base's break on impact with the face,has any one tried this and does it hirt!

I've been hit by a few and have never been hurt. Remember that they generally have a soft filling of custard and/or cream which acts as a cushion before the pastry case reaches the nose or any other prominent features. Probably receive a few more tomorrow! :D

They are fine but expensive in the UK. They are also quite fragile and have a habit of breaking before they get filled. Sponge bases (made damp first) are cheaper and less trouble.

sponge flan cases are soooo gud, they feel so much better wen youve got ur head sandwiched between 2 of them :-)
