SPLOSH! - The Next 20 Years?

Chat, flirt and fantasise about everything wet and messy

A number of people have already expressed most of my thoughts, so I'll just list a few items:

- Keep it all in one. I enjoy the variety, for example the TVs and CDs, and real people sharing photos of their sessions.
- More outdoor mud would be good for me.
- More model types would be good, but definitely don't make that exclusive.
- Do what you love. You can't do better than that.
- Keep it fun. Some raunchy is ok, but I prefer the fun more so.
- I like the commercial posts. They provide a good variety of different material. Your current rules about commercial posts seem about right.
- Baked beans, mud, real food never go out of style. I too get tired of shaving cream and coloured goo.
- Definitely have the models start out clothed - it's much more enjoyable that way. Real outfits like shorts and a t shirt, the secretary, the school girl, the nurse, the flight attendant, etc, but preferably something that lets her natural resources shine through. So a business suit is ok, but the jacket comes off after being slimed so we can enjoy her shape. This caters for role-play fantasies as well as sliming something you're not supposed to!

Of course these are all just my preferences. If you brought Splosh this far by doing what you know and enjoy, keep doing that!

Thanks for the comments so far...

I really meant are there any changes to the whole splosh.co.uk site (including sploshshop and sploshdownloads) you would like, not just the forum (which, like most of you, I think is about right). But I suspect most of you never go there, prefering to stick around here!

Let me know if there are any new things you'd like to see or existing things you hate!

Since you're asking, Bill, and if you really want honest feedback ...

... I've always felt the look and feel of the site is dated and clunky.

The whole 'come on darling, I'm waiting inside' with that little flapping door GIF.... A mention of pokemon-playing-kids? Poke-what? ...The pixilated Splosh logo on the front page ...proudly announcing you have a 'free forum' and 'free blog' (I don't recall ever seeing a blog or a forum anywhere that cost money) ... stuff like that ... makes it seem like a site from the mid-nineties. All that's missing is one of those counters on the front page, proudly announcing how many vistors the site has had.

The site's content itself is great (IMO), and it offers a heck of a lot more free content than a lot of other WAM sites. I just think the whole thing could do with a facelift and restructure - make it look and feel a bit more 2009.

This may come as a surprise, but to a large extent I think you are right.

It's been a while since we changed the Warning Page and it's shit. I think the home page needs a makeover too. The mentions of the free forum and blog were first put there because they had just been launched, not so much to emphasise their 'free-ness'. Having said that, you might be amused to know one fetish forum threw me off for providing a link to our home page because it was 'too commercial' - so they didn't notice the free stuff at all (which is what we were plugging on their forum)!

My view of the site is that it should be simple - even for technical idiots like me - to use but as people get more used to the internet, they get a bit more sophisticated and the site could reflect this. However I certainly don't want a site that 'shows off'. Just because we can do something technically doesn't mean we should. But, yes, it does need a re-vamp in many ways

If anyone does have any ideas of features that they would like to see (however nerdy), do say.

Bill

PS Dated reference as it is, Pokemon is still going over here!

I have always enjoyed the openness of this "community" and feel very much at home here. (maybe cause I like the crap jokes and puns, etc) but maybe because this site manages to be almost everything to almost everyone, without bounderies, and always with good humour.

Yes, there could always be more elements of "my particular kink". We all suffer from wanting more of what we like, but what I like about SPLOSH is that no one jumps down your throut for posting something a bit of the beaten track.

I like wet clothing. ( I wish there was some more here) I like one piece swimsuits ( I wish there was some more here!) I also like elements of watersports, especially knicker-wetting ( I wish there was more of that here as well!!) In my quest to get my online kicks I look at several sites, each on pidgeon-holing a particular niche, and most of them fanatically hating everything else. Here I find a home where "anything goes" I don't have to worry about being flamed, cause I mentioned a swimsuit, or suggested "self wetting" of clothing to a pure wetlook fan. I know I have a minority fetish, when it's all put together, but I can express myself freely here.

I also like the cross section of playfull, almost innocent fun, as well as the down right "near porn" (Oh alright, full on porn).

Please pleae please don't change a thing. And keep it comming.

All power to your elbow Bill, and thankyou for providing us with the outlet for our fun.
Please help the movement to rename swimwear Pee-wear!

further to my lengthy previous post....
I agree that its sad to say farewell to the printed mag, but in these days of internet its just much easier (I assume) to publish on the web rather than go to the expense and hassle of print runs etc...

If I had complete control (I wish) of the website, i.e. splosh.co.uk, not the forum, I'd do the following...

  • update the 'look and feel' to drag its ass (kicking and screaming) into the 21st century
  • provide high quality (>3000kpbs, 640x480 or above) pay-per-view downloads for all old VHS content - nobody uses VCRs anymore!
  • do the same for DVD content but continue to sell DVDs as an option
  • avoid DRM at all costs!
  • start up a new 'magazine' section featuring hi-res images (at least 1500 pixels width/height) and downloadable videos of the kind of content Splosh! does best (i.e a mix of sexy ladies losing their sexy clothes and getting messy with proper food) at a decent quality. I, for one, enjoy good quality messy still images as well as the more common videos
  • keep the broad mix of content and sploshees as it is, sploshing is for everyone!
  • keep the 'rubbish voiceovers' on the movies, they add to the sense of fun
  • pay Sian Lloyd (the weatherperson) £1million to do a messy double blow job scene - now that I'd like to see... what is it about her??!!!

As for the forum, I say keep it asis. I think its spot on. I'm here most days to check out the flow of banter - I just don't get the chance to post as much as I used to ... the burdens (but mainly joys) of parenthood....

ps. I just love the fact that I can contribute in this way... feels like I'm part of a happy messy community here...

and a final quote....

Snake - good posts.

You might be interested to know that a friend of mine works in Welsh television and has heard many rumours that Sian Lloyd (weatherperson) is a filthy sex fiend. A bet she'd LOVE to oblige us with a double messy blowjob scene, free of charge. Sian - if you're reading, drop us a line.

Bill - thanks for your positive response to my suggestions. I didn't so much mean add all kinds of fancy hi-tech bells and whistles to the site. Just give it a clean look (what?!?!?! Splosh with a clean look? That's one of those contradictions in terms things, isn't it????) and make it easy to navigate etc. Sort of spruce it up.

As I said before, the content is spot on, and it often feels like this is the online natural evolution of what began life as a magazine. Splosh magazine was fantastic and served it's purpose for that era ... now Splosh website takes up where the mag left off ... which is great, because multimedia allows you to do so much more than a printed mag.

Like a lot of other posters in this thread I feel that the forum, whilst being one of the newer features, is easily one of the best features of the Splosh website. It welcomes all comers and offers great variety and fun. I echo those that say 'don't change anything about the forum'.

I suppose if I was webmaster of Splosh, I'd be trying to think of ways to generate more traffic into other areas of the site (I'm guessing quite a lot of visitors rarely venture away from the forum area). How to do that? I don't know! Sorry!

I think snake has summed up very well. I love this place for all that it is but agree with most of the quotes he's extracted. We're all different and what turns each of us on turns us on and what doesn't doesn't. So long as we all agree not to go down the rather bizarre UMD route of allowing one person to flame another if they don't precisely fit that person's own view of what's great, Splosh will continue to be the friendliest and, therefore, best forum for Sploshing. Open-mindedness, tolerance and acceptance are definitely the best way forward and we have that here by the bucket-load, along with silly slapstick sexy fun!

My only personal comment is that I'm in half-agreement with messylou ... I can find so many pics of naked women pleasuring themselves with vibrators in slime that I agree we don't really need any more (though I don't mind if others want to see them) but my personal fave *is* for 'stick thin 19-year olds' (or ... well ... 25, 30, 35 etc. year olds) as I am quite slim myself so that's the sort that does it for me. (No objection to those who aren't stick thin and delighted that so many find happiness with them ... but that's not what really floats my boat .... just a personal preference.)

....oh and being me, you'd expect me to say 'plenty of multi-layered tights-filling please'! ;-)

First of all, congratulations SPLOSH on you FIRST 20 years!! It is difficult to summarize all the joy and laughter you have brought me over ALL of those years but long may you continue doing so!!

I was one of the original gang who started buying Mike Ellison’s slide collections. The introduction of SPLOSH was an enormous leap forward in all sorts of ways (the current generation may wish to try having a wank while squinting through a single slide viewer – the only things that used to stream in those days were my eyes!!). The quality of the mags and the videos were superb, but what makes the whole SPLOSH concept so good is the mix of erotica, mess and comedy. I still laugh out loud at some of the lines (current favourite came from the delightfully named “Ophelia Pecker” describing how she had had a hand in all the vicar’s openings – pure Carry On).

The introduction of the internet brought obvious benefits in broadening the genre while also attracting a wider audience. However, there are downsides in that while the quantity of material has escalated, the quality has plummeted. I have looked at other material over the years but have always come back to the SPLOSH group. No-one does it better.

As for content, well I get the impression that you’ll never satisfy such an eclectic group. And the internet probably makes us more demanding. Gone are the days when catching an unrecorded (yes, I am from the pre-VHS days as well) messy or wet routine had to remain as a memory for months before the next one. The internet has made us more demanding for instant access to all forms of SPLOSH related material. I used to enjoy the year of anticipating the next SPLOSH video, being teased with photos and reports from the various shoots.

I suppose, broadly speaking, the group seems largely split in two – the porn lovers who like mess, and the slapstick comedy lovers who like it a bit cheeky from time to time. I am definitely in the second grouping and am not even that fussed about nudity (and even less fussed about the Hard Core stuff). I am more than content with seeing attractive, sexy, well made up and dressed up ladies getting messed up in comedy routines that contain no nudity at all.

Sorry for the waffle – this was meant to be a quick reply but I do feel passionately about SPLOSH and hope it sticks with the original concept and goes on for ever (or at least as long as Bill keeps making a living out of it!!). It makes I laugh (as they say).

Some specific points:

- I like the SPLOSH Forum – it has a good community feel – I like the off topic stuff as well. It is always the first page I look at.
- Be nice to get something similar to the old SPLOSH mag back and perhaps the website revamp could incorporate this somehow (and I’d be happy to pay for it).
- Voiceovers, crap jokes, comedy, silly names are ESSENTIAL elements that make SPLOSH the best and cheer me up EVERY time I rewatch it
- I love the established models (Gilly, Sammy, Julie etc.,) and would love to see SPLOSH continue to be based around regulars like this (I find that it is actually a turn on just thinking about someone as attractive as Gilly doing this regularly). A bit of diversity is good but I really don’t care about age or looks as long as the model (dare I say actress) understands the genre, can act the part and (sorry) has big knockers (although I don’t necessarily want to see them out – a big cleavage does it for me)!!
- Sorry, but can I put a vote in for the use of coloured shaving foam pies and gunge? Not keen on food or some of the other substances used. And I would have absolutely no problem if you went back and re-made some of the original stuff but used shaving foam rather than food – I am sure that there will be others supporting the other way round as well.
- In fact, as well as putting some of the original material as downloads, have you thought of remaking some of the original sketches? Be nice to see a modern approach.

OK – I’ll stop now. It was important for me to contribute to this discussion because SPLOSH has been a major component of my life and definitely for the better. Congratulations and thanks, Bill and Hayley, for the first 20 years – here’s to the next!!

Some interesting ideas there, do keep them coming.

Interestingly when I first envisaged the website, I had the idea that it would look as much like the magazine as possible - with the home page looking like contents, the forum as letters etc etc. In the end I didn't do it because it seemed rather contrived and I thought the audience that had grown up with the web would think it looked odd. However, the site now has no real core (apart from the forum), just a series of random features like the shop and the free galleries, so it does need some kind of central theme. Perhaps we should go back to the magazine look!

Age is a terrible thing, but does anyone else find too many things going on on one page annoying? "Free services' (such as Yahoo and the like) have so many animated ads at the top and sides of the page they distract me completely and just make me want to get off that page as soon as possible. But then I can't even watch Final Score any more for the same reason!

So hopefully whatever we do will look 'clean', not too gimmicky, but not too dated either. Blimey, now there's a task! Like I said, all ideas welcomed...

I love Ralph's idea of recreating some of the most popular Splosh (or WSM?) scenes with modern day models.

We've got so many hollywood studios doing remakes, revamps, reimaginings etc etc ... it would be really interesting to see some of the favourite classic scenes with a fresh spin on them - starring today's generation of messy babes!

My spider sense is tingling and telling me this idea has already been discussed before, but I think the idea has real merit.

Ralph mentioned 'Ophelia Pecker'; I thought she made a wonderful 'host' for the Sticky Buns video but I've never seen her in anything else, before or since. Please tell us if she has been in anything else and under what name(s) if so.
Sorry I've gone a bit off topic
