wet and messy uniforms

Postby 54321plop » 13 Nov 2008, 09:14

I have been doing wet and messy stuff involving uniform's for years, I have posted odd bits here and there and recieved a few requests from fellow uniformphiles for dvd's of my shoots. Now this is early days but if you are interested in this fully clothed kind of stuff i was thinking of making a few dvd copies for sale. I am not looking to sell to everyone because of the comeback i could get from the organisations who's uniform's i use, But if this is something you are really, really into and would like to know more please reply to this thread.

Hi

I hate to be a downer but selling DVDs of this sort of material is illegal because it hasn't been passed by the BBFC.

We would be happy to discuss it appearing as downloads on our download site (which is legal) though with some sort of financial arrangement.

Hi Bill Thanks for your advice, I did make it sound very proffesional didnt i, What i was trying to do was get the attention of those who are really looking for this kind of stuff. I am only looking to do 25 dvd's and thought it could be done by creating a club where you get a free dvd for your membership. I am willing to send the first dvd to the 25 prospective members before they join the club, Poviding they like the material and join the club they will stay as one of the 25 and receive the next dvd free. I know this all sounds rather cloak and dagger stuff but i really am trying to locate a select few who really are into this stuff. Regards

Sadly that is still illegal. BBFC clearance is needed to 'supply' DVDs even if you give them away free.

Of course it is easy to argue that you are only doing it on a small scale so you probably won't get caught, but being an easy target quite often it is those people they go after. I know one elderly man who sold about five copies of his private videos and got massively fined! So be warned.

This is an interesting point, Bill. Do your own downloads have to be BBFC cleared? If not, why not - although the law is an ass so whatever the reason it may not make sense!

No they don't. Because the BBFC only cover 'recorded material' being sold on DVD or CD. The internet is considered 'broadcasting' (like radio or telly) and covered by Offcom instead. If people find something they dislike they can report it to Offcom and they will investigate, but it doesn't need approval prior to being made available.

Why? Cos this would be impossible to police. People don't even know which country they are downloading from so a UK-only BBFC-style system wouldn't be practical. Thank God.

How far does the BBFC go?

As a photographer I put images I have taken into a slideshow on DVD and send them to the customer. In effect they get a video of the stills.

Should this also have clearance?

I few years ago I went on holiday with a cousin; on our return we each made a CD of our own holiday photos and swapped the discs. Will we now have a criminal record?

The BBFC website defines a video as:-

"'Video work' means any series of visual images (with or without sound):

a) produced electronically by the use of information contained on any disc, magnetic tape or any other device capable of storing data electronically, and
b) shown as a moving picture."

So presumably a set of stills on a DVD needs no clearance.

There is also exemption from classification for videos and films like documentaries and educational stuff, but only if there is no sexual, violence or drugs, etc., content.
