Does this happen to all new staff? Does anybody ever refuse to take part?
What is the gunge being used? How do people get cleaned up afterwards? Do they know when they will be initiated so that they have a change of clothes?
Glad you like the pics but think your asking for way too much detail there lol
It used to happed to all new staff in the old days before I joined. The tradition sort of died out. One of the older guys was chatting about what went on and they got the old photos out and things sort of developed from there. We tried it once after drawing lots then its sort of stuck. It seems to have become popular because of the hard times we face, longer hours less pay means there needs to be some sort of outlet. We find that once initiated the new staff have a great sense of belonging and everyone gets on really well, its sort of a staff bonding thing and something for us all to have a good laugh about in the weeks that follow. No one has refused to take part so far. Spare clothes and t-shirts etc were bought in for them. Traditional printers greasing and gunging for the guy and more standard gunging for the girl. I wasn't in the washroom when they got cleaned they must have used the Swarfega industrial cleanser the engineers have and good old soap and water.
