Oh no!!! I agree with Bill!!! I'll be growing beard next and appearing on dodgy porn channels!
I spend a lot of time promoting sploshing/wam it now takes up about 70% of my time. Though it is bloody hard work, and their days you push like hell and get nothing!
Though who ever hosts the events needs to learn, that you have to stay to the end!! leaving at like 6.30pm when their are people staying over, cant be done as the people who have travelled feel like they have been left behind.
We now have a mini meet at London, as a lot of people stay in the Imp hotel. I have to try and get their before everybody else, I say try, apart from the train breaks down!!! Meet everybody then head off for the meet, get everybody back to the hotel. Apart from Rich as he is so loaded he stays in the pub booking sessions with all the models. he he he he he.
Then meet for breakfast, then go on our way. I enjoy doing it and wont stop though sometimes it is tireing.
regards
Andy
Meet-up 'Splunch' - Warrington, Sat 18th Oct, 2pm approx.
OK well let's kill this one off then. (I'm still so 'up the wall' with things that I could do with the time myself, to be honest, though I would have come out if we were still ok.)
There are some very good points made about publicity, though I would normally have been trying to keep the thread bobbing about in the public eye anyway in just the fashion suggested - it was just unexpected circumstances and a string of disasters that prevented me from having a moment to do anything about it over the last few weeks.
Having said that, when I did that for our last meeting (last April), I did feel at times as though I was 'over-egging the pudding' by being the one who was often replying, making it look as though I was the only one involved, which is not how I would wish to portray things, although it did result in a successful meet-up. I also recall a request from another meet-up (can't remember which one) to be made 'sticky' on the forum (a la UMD) being turned down and the comment was something along the lines of "it gets plenty of publicity anyway and we don't want it to be too much "in your face" .. or words to that effect, so I remember thinking that I might have been over-promoting the one last April. Again, I wouldn't want to over-stay my welcome!
Perhaps what we need is everyone who is intending to go (or at least those 'in the know' about the publicity issue) to keep the thread active next time so it doesn't look like a 'one man show'. (I had hoped that would have been happening in my absence from here.)
Also, Andy, please don't forget that the London meets are evening events anyway. The Warrington events have been afternoon-based, specifically so that people in the region can get there and back the same day without the need to stay over, which is impractical for many of us. (I'm usually 'on-call' from my business in the evenings too and often end up there on a Saturday night for the at-least weekly visit, which is a flippin' nuisance at times but that's life!) I'm amazed and delighted that people can travel so far for a splunch but I would never expect that for a regional one - it's definitely an added bonus if they do manage it, like Wamadeus and Smiley did at the last one.
With regard to the issue of people being available, could we perhaps consult our diaries and pencil in the 3rd Sat afternoon in April (18th) as the next likely date for Warrington. By getting to know that they're planned for the 3rd Sat in April and October, people might be able to plan ahead, a bit like a regular evening for a weekly or monthly club meeting - you get used to it and arrange yourself around that. (Imagine how complex a club would be if you had to arrange a fresh date to try to suit everyone each week or month!)
I suppose at least I can draw comfort from the fact that my efforts have produced several good meet-ups so far which wouldn't have happened if I'd kept my head down. Here's to the next one!
Keep up the good work everyone and keep sploshing!

Hi
Regarding publicising events on the forum...
It is a difficult balance cos, as I said, it can seem rather a self indulgent thread to the people who can't possibly go but I realise that they need constant promotion.
The only reason I moaned about the London meet that time was because it was about eightth on the forum when it was deliberately bumped to be right at the top again with a couple of days to go. When we said that wasn't really necessary, we got told "UMD give us a sticky" to which we replied something to the effect of "Well, good for them." That was because at that time there were several people organising meets and to be seen to favour one over the other would have been unfair. Besides, so many people contribute to posts about meets they bump naturally anyway.
Please remember - like the commercial advertisers - it is Hayley and I's job not just to look after any individual poster's interests but those of the members of the forum not all of whom want to go to meets, and so don't necessarily want the couple of dozen people who do to always be top of the page.
