Initiation Of A Newspaper Print Worker

I work at a newspaper printing depot and years ago they use to have a printers initiation they would pull your pants down than take a wad of press ink and smear it all over the new guy. Then let rip with lots of other nasty goo.

They decided to re-eact it at our works for history's sake and we all had to draw straws to see who was going to get done.

The poor loser got stripped down to undies sat in a trolley and coated in grease, oil, ink, eggs, baked beans, flour, honey and feathers. It wasn't filmed but the following vids should give some idea of what went on.

Alas don't see many of these ceremonies with girls involved. A new lady contractor is starting at our works in a few weeks and a few of us have thought about doing the initiation as a regular thing as it was so much fun for the spectators the first time round. If if happens will try and get some pics and may be a vid on youtube and post the link from here.

Anyone else come accross and such inititions in real life especially with any girls involved?

Ahh Slapstick you have just brought the memories flooding back to me. On leaving school in 1980 I served my apprenticeship at a print firm, back in the days of "hot metal" printing.

Having completed my 4 year apprenticeship I suffered the same initiation. I was getting black ink out of my pubes for months to come.

I bet they don't do it so often these days. Indeed, do they still have apprenticeships?

For the love of God, please don't film some more unsuspecting girl and put the results up on youtube, where inevitably it will get WAM-based comments. If she sees that she could feel pretty violated - I know I wouldnt want to go to work not knowing which of my co-working had those intentions.


On the other hand, anyone who is into the motorcycle scene in the UK will probably have similar tale of 'rally virgins' who have gotten stripped, cling-filmed to something and then covered in all sorts of goo. Usually it was guys, though, and it doesn't happen so often anymore because some people can be bullies a bit... Now there are things like organised gungings sometimes, and I seem to recall a cross-dressed wet t-shirt competition!

I think almost all these initiation ceremonies have disappeared with new rules about bullying in the workplace and health & safety.

Yes, they are all good fun if the person concerned is aware that they will have to do it so it becomes consensual. Otherwise, as Eden says, it can be theatening.

Hayley and I know of several biker clubs that still have initiation ceremonies (all of which she wants to do!) but even they give so much warning that they are looked on as part of the interview for the job!

Which makes me think... initiation wouldn't half liven up 'The Apprentice'.

Thanks Eden, the gungings are not down to me so its all done with mutual consent and I'm just a bystander who is secretly a slapstick fan so I'm not organising things for my own satisfaction or anything just reporting on workplace gungings. I can see your point about youtube vids though, guess I was just getting carried away lol. Its good we have girls like you on here that can keep us guys in check

Lol, didn't want to sound like a party pooper or anything, was just feeling like a big ol' bulldyke feminist yesterday! Once that girl on youtube, always that girl on youtube, eh?

As for printers ink though, I wouldnt mind seeing that, Not sure what that means seeing as my dad is a printer, but hey, I'll leave the analysis to someone else.
