Downloading without A Credit Card: The Answer

Postby Candy Custard » 07 Oct 2008, 09:00

Bill, I mentioned this to you last time I was down at HQ im sure but I have been trying to download a couple of films off the download store.......... but your billing company doesnt take debit cards, and the softokens thing doesnt allow you to upload money for 'tokens' off a debit card either

I suspect this might not just be a problem for me.... not everyone has a credit card... I wont touch them with a bargepole

anyway

any chance of the webmaster sorting out another company or adding something that takes debit cards at all?

CC xxxxxxx

Hi Candy.

You can get a prepaid mastercard at www.mycashplus.co.uk which you can top up at shops, postoffices or manage via phone or online.

Hope this helps

 Very few Internet Billing Providers who accept "Adult" material for processing also accept "debit cards"

What you have to also remember is a debit card takes payment from your personal account .

The American based providers cannot do this under their terms of use unless they have managed to secure merchant accounts which will accept UK based debit Cards

These are virtually impossible to get hold of at the best of times for "Adult" items let alone at the present economic climate.

I believe Bill has had this problem for some time and also as have lots of other sites etc.

An alternative might be "moneybookers or something similiar but then it all changes to a manual process for both you and the site owner which is time consuming and awkward with passwords and usernames

And as we have explained before...the hosts are also the CC billing company so no we can't change them and wouldn't. Adult CC billing companies are few and far between and ones that work well as this one does are virtually non-existent.

No, they don't accept debit cards but you can use one of these pay-as-you-go debit cards ( like Quidity) which you can get in shops and put in no more than you need.

If there is a reasonable demand from people without credit cards (let me know), we might try and find a way of you paying us by cheque and then e-mailing the details to you, but I am not sure how well that would work.

If it's a copy of your own film you are after, then we can let you have a free one of those, obviously!

Like you mentioned Bill, I mentioned too before
Can you tell me in what kind of shops I have to look for those credit cards? Supermarkets don't have them if I'm right...

Thank you :)

Candy - your details have been PM-ed, so you should now have access to the film.

Vera - over here you can buy them in supermarkets and corner shops, newsagents etc but obviously I don't know about Holland. You might try googling Quidity but I admit I haven't tried myself.

Having had a quick look, not sure how well Quidity would work as it's a Maestro card but might be worth the five quid for using for other things.

So long as there wasn't a huge demand...we would be able to accept cheques/cash for downloads posted to our usual PO Box address. We would need the e-mail address you want to download it from and you would have a limited time to do so, so you would need to check it regularly for the download details once you'd placed an order that way.

However, credit cards a definitely preferred.

maestro is just a debit card and one that the cc bill thing wont take - so it would need to be one of those pre paid mastercard type things - I have seen them about, im sure I will manage it somehow xxxx

Thanks for that Wamadeus.

So for all you people out there saying you can't get a download cos you have no credit card, that is the answer.

Bearing in mind people's paranoia about losing their bank details by using credit cards online (I have been the victim of this once), perhaps we should all use them!
