The Gunge Tube?!?!

Postby Palmer Eldritch » 28 Jul 2008, 22:20

Hello all,

Longtime lurker here with a question for all you lovely people:

On several occasions here I have seen references to the Crazygirls "Gunge Tube" that apparently was super-messy for the girl on the receiving end. But what the heck was this "Gunge Tube"?! It sounds very interesting and I have all sorts of lovely images in my head, however would someone be kind enough please to give a description or maybe post a pic just so I can fulfil my curiousity?

On another note I have just been to the Crazygirls website where there is a notice saying they are closing on the 31st July. Some of their sets look bloody brilliant, however I fear I have missed the boat now. What will happen to these?

Here is a sample photo from the site that in particular took my fancy:

ah, the gunge tube....

it only featured in a few sets (that I saw anyway....)

I'll see if I can find an example. (A excellent opportunity to -ahem- review my collection)

watch this space...

The original Crazygirls sites was run for many years by a guy called Brian Groves, and contained some amazing work.
I believe that he was based first in the UK, then moved to Spain and subsequently Argentina.
I subscribed to some of his sites for a while, and he seemed a great guy. Sadly he had a lot of personal problems culminating in the sudden death of his wife, at which stage he passed the site back to (I think) his former colleagues in the UK. Pity if it's now closing totally.
After all that, I'm not actually sure myself what the Gunge Tube was....anyone else know?

'Old School' CrazyGirls video and pictures rocked!
IIRC, the Gunge Tube was invented by Sammi back in the 1990's and she used it on herself and Debbie in an amazingly messy scene. The whole scene revolved around one of Brian's inventions...The Treacle Bath.

OK, I found a "before and after" composite of the scene.
Doesn't Sammi look every bit the evil genius? :)

Hi

I don't think anyone can claim to have invented treacle baths!

I am sorry to hear of the demise of Crazy Girls. Brian was a difficult bloke in many ways but he was very keen on over-the-top mess and some of the results were excellent. I wonder if it is possible to rescue some...

I liked a lot of what crazy girls did - especially some of their earlier food stuff.

There was a real griity style to their WAM. It was never glamourously lit or carefully choreographed. It had a raw quality to it that I only saw matched in some of the stuff by Splosh, WSM and TNMMC.

I always loved how they'd hurl around sweet and savoury together. Crazy Girls models weren't safe from the delights of soup, eggs, ketchup, mayo etc. ... and you could always depend on them getting their hair, clothes and underwear trashed.

Ah yeah, the 'tube. Kind of my gunge holy grail, actually. If I recall correctly, there was also another setup where there was a hollow tube filled with gunge for proper "insertion", and then a smaller solid tube inserted at the open end of that to fit it all inside. We've had similar success with a turkey baster (yes, the s.o. enjoys the feeling of it inside), but it's probably not quite the same.

There were at least 2 main sets (both used to be in my possession..... somewhere), with the first session involving 3 girls in what I still hold to be one of the filthiest sessions in the history of commercial WAM. All you could make out were their eyes, with the rest just utterly coated in blue-black sludge. Magnificent.

Anyway, I'd say this warrants a scavenger hunt. Maybe someone's got it in a box of floppy discs in the barn somewhere?

Crazygirls did some wonderful stuff! Its such a shame they dissapeared. The gunge tube made an appearance in 3 sets IIRC. The first of which was the amazing Sammie & Debbie set mentioned above :)

When Brian launched his very first membership site, the Debbie Scene was one of the first uploads in big (For the time, circa 1997) 14mb vcd mpg clips, I lost all the clips in a harddisk crash and have never been able to find them again since, kind of a holy grail if you will! :)

The scene may well have appeared on some of the early VHS tapes that Brian released as part of a special membership promotion. Would love to hear from anyone who has some of the original tapes or clips :)

Wow many thanks all for your replies. At last I know what the Gunge Tube is! (it's totally not what I imagined it to be :D )

Phantom - I totally share your enthusiasm for this more "gritty" side of wam - no fancy lighting or set up, just pure messiness to the extreme!

skipantmudfan - that scene you claim to be the filthiest in the history of wam sounds amazing. I am gutted that Crazygirls was around before my time, it's such a shame this material can't be properly archived for future wam generations!

I had the pleasure of several sessions at Crazygirls when they were in Lancaster in the mid 90's. Brian was a real enthusiast and I too liked his no holds barred sploshing.

Some of the things I can remember using included litres of emulsion paint (one session he produced a lumpy old tin of yellow paint from his stair cupboard....the girl had to stir it by hand of course :D ) river mud fresh from the Lune, used cooking oil, bags of flour, feathers, kilo's of marge, treacle.....

Happy days :D :D

At the time Brian and his wife lived in Spain, they offered inclusive villa/pool holidays, (which I think were at their own villa), with the chance to watch or help at one or two messy photoshoots.

I remember that these looked like good comfortable holidays, even without the wam element, but by the time I was seriously looking for a date to book, he was moving on to, I think, South America. (Not sure why, but I did wonder about financial issues, perhaps it would be a much cheaper place to base his activities?)

Anyway, I always regretted not going to Spain, and wonder if anyone here stayed on a holiday with him and the girls?

P.S. The gunge tube was nothing like I'd imagined either!
