24 People in 3 minutes. 2 litres of gunge? Surely we could quite easily break this!

At least it settles the validity of that comic relief world record gunging a while back - lame as it was, they managed a lot more than 24 folks and two measly litres of gunge.

Perhaps practical and legal restrictions prevent TV companies (or any proper organisation) from really doing this thing right, though it seems apparent that this is one of those records Guiness aren't properly recognising anyway. There's been a recent trend for guerilla-type events of this sort organised on Facebook - Millenium Square in Leeds has played host to a couple of these, although the old bill are known to have taken a dim view of them. Certainly they're not going to like hundreds of people showing up and trashing a public place with slime.

There is one other method of using people power to do this thing with simple logistics and no risk of being hauled away by the boys in blue, that is to arrange for groups of people all over the world to get gunged at a particular time and record the event with witnesses to confirm the time. It's not scientific and fat chance in getting Guiness to endorse it, but as has been demonstrated that's hardly a big deal. Do it in a spirit of fun, get a webpage up commemorating the event and you've got yourself a perfectly good unofficial record - and lets face it, getting an 'official' record for something like this isn't really the point anyway.
