Thanks Bill.

Am I correct in saying that Lulu was gunged and if so does anybody know if the clip is available anywhere?

Have vague memories of it, but haven't seen it since.

Interesting! I never knew he was on ITV, only became aware of him when the BBC show started. Wish I'd seen Lulu get gunged! How did they show it, all close-up head shot, or full height? And if anyone can remember, what was she wearing?

It started as the Kenny Everett Video Show on Thames. That was the series that featured Hot Gossip, the occasional gungings (and Sid Snot).

Kenny moved to the BBC when we was allowed back on the radio (briefly) and lost Sid Snot and Hot Gossip but gained Cleo Rocos (and Gizzard Puke).

The gunge was dropped in one go (rather than the slower devices used later) and was green. Can't remember details of Lulu as I said.

I read recently (but can't remember where) that there is an ongoing dispute between Kenny's Estate (his family, not his old car), the BBC, Thames and some of the copyright owners of the music used in some of his programmes. Therefore, it is unlikely that all the content of his shows will/can be reshown at this time.

I too remember the 12 days of Xmas sketch, don't remember Lulu tho. And who could forget Cleo!!? My dim and distant memory (i.e. I can't remember if it was kenny, benny, spike or les) was of a clown "bringing his work home with him" - you can probably work out the rest, but I don't think it was Cleo who played the wife who copped the slosh.

I have vague recollections of a Les Dawson (I think) show where the whole audience got involved in a great big pie fight (foam pies I believe). It was an 'Olde Time Music Hall' style scene and it seemed like everyone got well plastered. Afterwards, L D said "it took ages to clean up". Can anyone else remember it?

Ta for the info!

I vaguely remember Sid Snot, from the single he released. "Ello <something> it's Sid Snot 'ere, with some GBH for your bleeding ear", IIRC. Presumably that was before the switch to the BBC.

What was it he was banned from the radio for - saying something impolite about someone (royalty?), or am I thinking of someone else?

He got banned from Radio 1 for pointing out that the Minister of Transport's wife was taking her driving test that day and implying that she was bound to pass cos of her position. Incredible to think that you could get sacked for something so innocuous in those days.

But the BBC were the losers as he went to Capital Radio where he was a great success for many years.
