okay this is an attempt to bringing the two threads together!
Looks like there is a deisre for a meet its working out location or locations ....
Nottingham - Origiginal suggestion. Pit & Pendulum part of the Eerie Pub chain. I know the pub fairly well as have eaten/drunk there a few times. It is just off the main town centre area. This would be both good and bad potentially especially on a Saturday. From my experience it can be quiet busy and have had problems finding a table for 4 to eat at in the past. The layout of the place is a bit random. It is "alternative" friendly. Fairly traditional range of drinks and food available. Smokers would have to leave the building and smoke on the street on one of the two entrances. For travellers Nottingham has good train links with direct trains from Sheffield, Leicester, Derby. Also on motorway route. Nearest airport would I guess be east Midlands.
Leeds - Blayd's. The original meet up was held there last year. It is a gay pub with a private room which means leaving the room for the bar and smokers. It's not the easiest place to find as it is in a secluded location. The main benefit of a private room is it could be a bit more outrageous. It's a known location. It has direct train links to York, Sheffield, Derby, London, Manchester. Nearest airport I think would be Robin Hood at Doncaster? Again good road links but the ring road from hell!
Sheffield - The new boy on the block! Suggestion is a pub called The Moon. It's the official pub of the Abbeydale Brewery and has a range of 10 real ales on most of the time. Its a little out of the town centre but is only 2 minutes walk from a tram stop ... yep we have them up here in Sheffield! The pub has a main bar a "side" bar and a function room. When been in on a Saturday evening /afternoon its been quietish just with low background music making conversation easy no shouting over loud music. For smokers there is a patio area to the front and side with picnic style benches. It has held a goth night of live music and dj's so is relatively alternative friendly though extremes of dress may get a raised eyebrow. There is a lot of hotels in city centre etc for travellers from Ibis to novotel and smaller places. Sheffield is served with direct trains from Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Birmingham and London (if pre booked in advanace you can get a £7 single fare price to/from London as a single fair. Nearest airport is Robin Hood whch has a direct bus service into Sheffield. I can partly help arrange things for this one with info tho I am not always able to get onto the forum more than once a week. I know DungeonMaster will know of this venue so can comment on it's suitability or problems for it.
Other possibiliries but don't know of suitable locations in Derby,or Leicester?

Name a decent venue over there and we'll pop over
But depending on dates set I may be able to make any location on a Saturday in the area or none of them even Sheffield!!! ... I think each city has its benefits - just finding a suitable venue and date for everyone ...ot a mahority or dates and venues!
In some ways I'd prfer to travel out of sheffield as I am rarely in sheffield of a Saturdat anyway!
