Leeds Splunch?????
Would you like me to arrange one? I've been out of the WAM loop a bit of late, but it'd be great to get everyone together again for another crazy beano at Blayd's, I'd certainly be up for organising it again and I daresay Blayds'd be happy to have us back.
When might be a good time?

I'd be up for one, haven't been to a northern one yet and its alot closer to home than london for me just depends on what date you pick

Dates permitting I'd love to come to another one, though is Blayds necessarily a good idea? So far we've had one that was freezing cold, becase the windows don't shut properly, and one that was so hot one of the participants fainted, because the windows don't open properly and the pub dumps the waste heat from its air-con into the stairwell that leads to the upper room.
Poss try and get a room at The Adelphi, or somewhere else in the same area? ISTR it's full of nice little pubs, a part of town I really need to explore some more.

Personally I am getting used to temperature changes. As a non-or-at-least-very-light smoker I now regularly have to stand outside in the cold just to talk to my mates who are almost all regular puffers. As a result I am accumulating tasteless jackets off Ebay for this very purpose...
Incidentally, a pub round the corner from our studio recently got fined £2,500 because the smokers - all outside the front door like good little boys - started singing! Apparently a house over the road had a party on and the drinkers joined in with some of the songs and somebody complained! You couldn't make it up (unless you are Richard ittlejohn who frequently does).
So, anywhere tolerant works for me.

Leeds was good but I know what you mean about the venue. It was convenient in that they gave us that upstairs room but it was a bit of a dive wasn't it? If moving elsewhere, I suspect that you'd not have a private room, not that this has stopped other gatherings where we've chatted in the bar area. It just needs a little more discretion downstairs.
By the way, subscribers to UK Regional WAM e-mail group No 3 (North East) will be getting an automatically generated e-mail message prompting them towards getting together on the next scheduled date of the afternoon of the 3rd Saturday in May (17th). If the next Leeds meetup were on that day anyway, then whoever is organising it (Miss Helen again?) would be welcome to announce the details on that group too and gain the benefit of extra people knowing about it.
Also, while I think about it, the next automatically generated e-mail calendar reminder for subscribers to e-mail group area No 2 (North West) will pop up for the next Warrington meetup on the afternoon of the 3rd Saturday in April (19th), for anyone around these parts.

I rather like dives. Oh well...
And I thought the idea was to have a place that tolerated all dress codes, but perhaps everything has moved on. In which case I'll see you all next in a golf club in my (non-existent) pink Pringle sweater.

Its only the same as the pub as we use to go into next to David Glews place in London after the splosh days. That wasn't the best pub in the world. Though this event is diffrent from the London meet, as we have people in charcater on the day. You can also talk about sets and ideas at the Leeds event, where as in London it is difficult with a lot of people coming and going.
Though please note, we do move on. We normally go for a meal (take bets on Wamadeus getting his meal last, or even forgotten about!!! he he he) then go round a few bars to enjoy the female sceneray. Then back to the hotel for a few more jars. First meet we went for a french restarurant and last time it was Mexican..... Plus you never know what Mike nomic is going order!!!! plus Dolly flashing her underwear at all of Leeds (not that I complained!!! nice pokerdots nics Dolly xxx )
So yes Blards bar is not the Ritz, we can meet up, do a few hours their and then move on. Plus when you start talking about Sploshing nobody asks what it is. As its a fetish pub and they already know, or dont care as they have their thing that they are into.
regards
Andy

That is, indeed, true - I bumped into Andy just as he was starting the 50-yard hobble from that hotel to the bar! It's a good job he knew where it was as I wouldn't have realised it was there and probably would have ended up wandering round looking for it (though Miss Helen's directions were splendidly accurate up to the point where I no longer had to rely on them, I have to admit).
