Hello there,

We never ever did the UMD forum. Was it anything like this one?
Kind regards, Spinynorman and Frilly

Still messing about after all these years!

You'll get lots of opinions on this.

The UMD is a good place for networking it would seem. Out of it came the meet-ups, held mainly in London. Also I'm sure a lot of wammers would have been lost without it.

I still like the chatroom from time to time, but find that the main messy forum is slightly overrun with advertisements for paysites.

I'm not criticising the UMD. Far from it. It's a good place also to share pics, and the friendly users of it will be quick to compliment and offer encouragement and support. I've met some fab people there too, and I got on splosh via it's forums.

It's not MUCH like this forum though, I find that, although younger and smaller, this forum has more slap and tickle to it, it's less nerdy, more about the fun of it all. There's more of a community feel to this one in my humble opinion.

I've rambled a lot, hope my opinion helped :)

It's kind of like this, but not as cosy.
Look, if you're all going to throw pies around would you mind throwing them at me!!!

Of coourse UMD is much bigger than ours and consequently attracts more commercial producers flogging their wares (including us occasionally).

When we set this up a few weeks back it was to make it more friendly and 'cosy', more flirtatious and less judgmental about some of the wilder aspects of WAM. I hope we have succeeded to some extent (no, I'm not fishing here, people have been nice enough already).

However, we are open to any ideas people may have to make our forum better - and criticisms (constructive, please) as well.

In short, let us know what you want and we'll try to do it.

Well, having hung around the UMD from the days when it was just a collection of links (pre-forum/chat etc), yes there was a time when Messyfun was pretty much the only game on the 'Net way back in 1994/1995 (and yes it was the first time I wasn't alone liking to see girls all muddy and pied).

In any case, enough digression. I would have to say that GungeSlut and Hayley summed it up best about the commenting on pics and that's about it. I suppose that a good analogy is that the UMD forum would be some sort of big tradeshow/expo sort of place where you keep moving/sampling and talk a little bit here and there. This place I feel is more like a local, someplace where you sit and chat and don't feel you have anything to prove and you know that anyone who's going to be here on some level really wants to be here. Looking at the earliest names in they are a number ones that I've seen around for years and know how to put a few sentences together.

Bill to be honest, this forum is great and the only change I could think of is (if there's enough demand) might be a sep forum for stories. The main reason I suggest that is that the posts don't get lost, unless of course you want to just copy them into Channel Free at some point (which you have permission to do with mine). Admitedly there have only been a few stories, but looking into the future a "Reading Room" might be appropriate with fireplace when you start penning those adventures from over the years :)

My bad there DD, I humbly apologize and will endeavour to write a story in which you get very very messy to make it up to you :)

Like both forums but this one a bit better as it easier to get involved with chit chat on here much more.

Plus it runs much quicker.

Do agree about the pics comment tho'.

Good idea about copying the stories to the Free House - which is our Reading Room/Pic gallery.

Will try and get that sorted.

The UMD used to have more chatty topics, both in Off- Topic and the Messy Forum. This seemed to changed after the site owner Messmaster upgraded and changed a few things. The changes were good but I feel that due to the length of time it took to get a smoothly running site back up, people found other places to post.
Since then the Off Topic and Messy forums ( rarely look at the Wet forum ) have not had the variety of interseting threads that held me there. It has become more of a producers advertising place and Off Topic appears to have dried up completely.

On the Splosh forum I like the vibrancy and fresh feel here. It does have a more cosy atmosphere. It is also what a lot of people were probably waiting for. As Sploshman said, it is easier to get involved with the chat in a thread. I am not sure having a more sections would help yet with the exception of, as Grey said, a Stories forum / Reading Room though Bill seems to have that on board !
Splosh people has brought a few new people out onto the boards too, and that can only be a good thing ( I hope that came out sounding right ! ) as well as a few familiar names from various places. It's all good.

I can only agree with Gungeslut and DD ( and erm, I'd be a fool not to ! :P ) and welshcakes . . . . only not as succinctly.
Who ate all the pies ? What a waste of pie !

I always found the umd very much a click you were either part of the accepted group or you were on the outside looking in, although at one time anytime i wanted to view some pics or find out what was happening on the wam scene it was always and still is a good place to go, but i never really posted anything there, as has been said earlier this is a more open and freindly forum and i feel i have nothing to prove and as a result splosh is now my first stopping point. anyway enough butt licking (mmmmmm)...

I'm always up for having my butt licked! But to lick someone else's (which can be cool too!)....

It really is you guys who make the forum work. After the initial setting up and creating a sort of character for it, it is you lot who have made it the friendly place it is. Please keep on doing so.

We are never gonna be the world's biggest forum - even if we wanted to be UMD has about eight years on us! But I would like us to be the most fun! And dare I say horniest.

I think what we have going here is a chatroom without the technical problems (I too get booted by too many PMs, and besides my poor blonde brain can't cope with talking to five people at once). So please keep up the good work.

Big messy snogs to you all

Hayley
