Well! A disappointing turnout after the success of last year's Warrington meetup but I did have the unexpected pleasure of chatting to Mike from WSM. I had somehow gained the impression that WSM was a German company so you could have knocked me down with a feather when I found out he's only a couple of miles away from me!
Happily, I left with several WSM products and jolly good they look too. I've quickly looked through a couple and was most impressed with Bill's impressions of David Coleman and Melvyn Bragg, amongst others!
Hopefully, we'll have a better turnout again in 6 months' time. (The 3rd Saturday in April - i.e. the 19th)

You should pop over to the next Leeds Splunch, they're well attended and very friendly gatherings. There isn't an actual timetable for them, rather they tend to happen when Ms Helen and crew think the time's right, and enough people can make the chosen date.

I know - I was there last time! I was saying to Mike that I think a combination of the glorious weather today and the local Everton v Liverpool match (and Rugby final early evening) really put paid to things for many people today.
Strangely enough, the suggested schedule for area 3 (north-east) just popped up on the calendar today advising of the next suggested date for that area (being Sat 17th November). See here for the proposed dates for each region, which attempt to avoid clashes and build up a regular timetable to make it easier for people to work out when their next slot will be. (Obviously, people tend to organise them when & where they can but if there is a possibility of synchronising to this then it would certainly avoid confusion on the auto-e-mailed reminders to members and it affords them the opportunity to use the e-mail system to alert members to their meetup.)
If Miss H (or anyone else?) does arrange it then they'd be most welcome to publicise it to the members on the Regional WAM groups' e-mail distribution system where people have joined that group to receive notifications of just such meetings.

Clashing with the rugby didn't help. Even the party I was at was full of people who were recording the match hoping nobody would tell them the result during the evening. Being born in Wales, I didn't care.
I like the idea of Mike being from Germany. You don't get much more Scouse than Mike and we had some lary times in the old days. As for the impressions...errr...all a bit embarrassing now, though I still do the odd v/o on GSH stuff. Not a lot of call for David Coleman, though Melvyn Bragg will make a vocal appearance in the Mucky Pups DVD.

Sorry I missed it I didnt realise it was this weekend. I actually wouldnt have been able to make it anyway, but I agree I think a number of things conspired against you. Hopefully the next one will be back to last years numbers.

Indeed, as I discovered! ....which leads me on to the question of whether it was him with the beard in those early WSM movies? If so, he hasn't half changed over the last 15-20 years (both appearance and, more surprisingly, voice). It didn't sound like him on the videos but at the end of one of them where you point the girls towards 'the producer', it was the bearded bloke who was dragged into shot to be pelted. Was that really him or an 'actor'?

The man who appeared was a guy called Harvey who basically paid to be in them! I don't think 'actor' is exactly the word! If you ask him, Harvey will tell you that almost everything WSM was down to him but I can assure you it wasn't. He hasnow retired from the scene cos his wife found out!
Mike's voice can be heard in one of the films but I can't remember which.

The bearded wonder
Who is the guy with the beard in the video of the girls breaking down and the garage scene - name of tape slips my mind at the mo.
A scene towards the end has a lady copper coming a cropper.
And another scene has the delivery girl involved in a pieing,
Word at the time was that she was a real life delivery girl who agreed to join in.
Was that Bill or the other guy?
(not meaning the delivery girl!)
But biggest shock of this thread was discovering Bill was born in Wales.
Shock horror.
I'll still buy you that pint mate -

I have confessed to many shameful things on this forum: Railways, Nudism, etc., but Bill has me beat with that one.

You may be thinking of 'The Muckanic' which was an Artscene/Aquantics production.

Do you mean 'The Muckanic' by the 'other guys' i.e. Artscene/Aquantics?
If so, the bloke with the beard was me.
Mike.

There area lot of beards about. That one sounds like Nomic's. And we don't regard anyone whose stuff we sell as 'the other people'. It is a good DVD and available from us right now and good (apart from Nomic, of course!).
Sorry if my outing my Welshness has caused offence. When you are my age you don't care. looking rubbish in frocks, fetish clothing, mess, dodgy dancing, worse singing and born on Anglesey. Yes, I admit to them all.
