"Well, you see, if you'd stuck to buying mags instead of trawling the internet you wouldn't have missed Splosh! No 24."

I see what you're saying - keep handing over 8 quid a pop for 20 colour photos once a month, rather than enjoy the endless free WAM available online. Yeah - makes sense (to the person collecting the 8 quids!).

I collected Splosh even when it was numbering in the 30s. But there were a few I missed, and I guess 24 was one of them.

Which one of those is Visa Garman? The one standing up? I remember her from occasional issues of Razzle or Fiesta ... seem to remember getting all excited because the cover of one mag promised naughty food fun, but inside all we saw was Vida and another woman playing about with raw carrots and lettuce leaves!

Splosh! magazine could never compete with the "free WAM" (well somebody paid for it initially but you got to see it for free - as you did with the pictures from No 24) on the internet and that is why we stopped. I think you will find even now that most of the people producing original messy material have to charge for it somehow to pay models etc. Fortunately for them and you, there are enough dedicated fans prepared to pay a reasonable amount to keep producing new material so others can just ponce off the freebies.

Your small factual errors prove just how dedicated a reader you were, Phantom. Nearer 150 photos in every magazine and it was quarterly not monthly. Not pretending it could ever compete with subscription sites but the subject had to start somewhere.

Sorry if paying our 15 grand a quarter print bill by charging eight quid for thousands of words and 150 pics was too big a burden for you.

Still you got your way in the end.

Yes I did. And you made your dough, so put away the violin, Simon Bates.

I'm no ponce, Bill. I've shelled out loads of cash for WAM material ... both British and overseas. Splosh magazine had it's day, and it was important in what it lead to. I bought more than 25 issues of it, and loads of video tapes. But the move to online WAM was inevitable. Is everyone who enjoys free messy material online a ponce?

I've given plenty back to the WAM community. Including recently by adding a number of free messy photo sets to this very forum. I could have put up one or two samples and asked people to send me money for the full set, but I wanted to share.

Hang on sec????!!!!! sorry to go off topic, though has made me put me business head on.... One of things that bug me is when somebody wants to do something then can't make due to the costings...

15k a quater means you have to sell 2000 mags at 8 quid a pop to make a 1k????? plus the photos from Dave, or Brian etc. Plus the quality of the mag (for those who never read or bought it, this was no crappy razzle or fiesta mag, it was on quality a4 print paper..)

Your time and Hayley, also Emma for a while helping out. The live events where you could have charged more, though didn't........

All this said, also bear in mind its a specialised mag, even at £15.00 quid a pop for 1000 people its still only 15k.

Unless I've gone mad, I think I've finally realized despite Bill saying it on the threads, it would appear Bill is not in it for the money, never was and never shall be.

Its finally all dropped into to place, I wished I'd know 15yrs ago.... Would have sent some ideas. £8 its a gift, quite litreally.

I take my hat off!!!!

(sorry to invade the thread just dont like the idea of it not making money, along side any other projects you might be running.)

regards

It was the centre set of that issue and called The Girl from T.R.E.A.C.L.E. - a 'hilarious' spy parody. One of the girls is famous glamour model Vida Garman but I can't remember who the other is off the top of my head.

That was the first issue of Splosh! that I ever bought! That was back in late 1995 or early 1996, I don't remember exactly. I had left it lying in the living room and a friend that had never heard of WAM that was staying over found it. :-)

That is all true. Actually it's worse cos the majority of Splosh! mags were sold by shops where you get less than half the cover price - two to three quid a copy.

However whatever I say, people will see me as moaning or being financially motivated when I set up Splosh! My only financial concern was it not bankrupting me and keeping it going when so many other similar specialist magazines failed.

In actual fact (though some people won't believe it) as you can see from Andy's sums the magazine never made any money. It has not made me well off. It was financed by being a freelance for Razzle etc which paid my bills at that time. The videos did make some money but cos I was busy ploughing it into the magazine (along with what time I had outside of freelancing) I probably didn't do as well as people who just made tapes and didn't have a 'loss-leader' magazine to do. Now it is back to being a paid hobby rather than a business.

I am not complaining and certainly not asking for sympathy. I had a great time! I am proud of what I did and cos I didn't do it for the money, I am not bitter that I didn't make any from it.

I am now going to shut up about it and let you get back to bondage (hope you like the Red pics). Besides it's my 52nd birthday tomorrow and I am off to get pissed.

Happy birthday Bill.

And thanks for all those great issues of Splosh, and the videos- which came when there was very little sploshing fetish material available anywhere.

It's still well worth getting back issues of Splosh, since they are collectors' items as well as being well worth reading in themselves, with great pictures and stories as well as Hayley's brilliant page and other items.

I'll keep this one short - as the actress said...
I bought issue 1 of Splosh mag and have been a firm fan ever since

A belated Happy Birthday Bill - all I want to say is that in the early nineties I saw Splosh! 12 and it kinda changed my life - and I really do thank you for that

I have all of them from 8 to 40 (and hope you can do pdf's of the early ones sometime - to buy from your site)

Anyway, hope you had a good birthday
