bodypainting advice needed

Postby captain sensible » 17 Oct 2007, 08:49

My girlfriend and I are planning a bodypainting session for this weekend (probably on Friday night so we don't miss the rugby), and I'd like some advice from the seasoned Sploshers out there about what sort of paint to use.

I was thinking of using big squeezy bottles of kids' poster paints - that should wash off pretty easily shouldn't it? Should we dilute the paint or use it neat? Is there anything we could mix it with to get something really gloopy to smear on each other? Will it wash out of dyed hair without making it go a strange colour? Is it harmful if taken internally (in other words, would we need to clean off before having sex)? All advice gratefully received...

My experiences are that undiluted the dark colours do stain clothing and take a bit of scrubbing it get off skin if allowed to dry. I would imagine you might have a similar problem with dyed hair (we natural strawberry blondes don't need to worry!). The black one is particularly strong. But they are totally harmless and won't do you any damage internally so long as you clean properly after. They don't taste great though!

If you mix them with other things they are much better and can be used to dye anything you like (cake mixes, wallpaper paste etc). Much better value that way too. Personally I would use them as a colouring for other mess rather than 'raw' to be on the safe side, but many others have had no problem. I just know of one or two, including myself, who have sworn a lot after a poster paint sesh.

Yes, that's the stuff - it comes in big squeezy bottles, and kids use it at art class... I expect we'll probably start off by actually painting designs on each other with brushes (rather than pouring it over each other), but I doubt it will be long before things get a bit less restrained...
