Full Mud Meet Details For Next Saturday - 29th Sept

Postby Sploshman » 22 Sep 2007, 01:33

Here are the full details for the mud meet guys...............

Date: Saturday Sept 29th (NEXT WEEKEND!!) as long as the weather is good.

Location: Calne, Wilthshire (was originally gonna be in Kent but haven't had the chance to check the place out and also with all the foot and mouth incidents down there (thanks for the heads up Mike) i thought that it would be best to do it elsewhere).

Time: 2pm

Meeting Place: White Horse Inn Pub in Calne (email me for rough directions on how to get down there).

How Deep Is The Mud: V.DEEP as it's a quarry area (usually waist deep) and as DD says its nice and secluded, the mud is lush, spots of it are like swimming in nutella :).

Clean Up: Theres a little pond/river/general water just across from the spot where you can get cleaned up afterwards, although mind the gravel on the way to the water as it will hurt your feet so bring some footwear that you don't mind getting dirty.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME!!

So far coming - 100% confrimed:

Sploshman
Mike Nomic
Jeannie Dee
Thrillseeker
DD

Mabye's:

Maddie
Piesplatter
Beatrice
splat182002
moddermonster (from Belgum!!)
The Stig (from the umd)
Slapstick Slosh (from the umd)
Joker012000 (from the umd)

Still haven't heard back from Dids, Cede, Lisa Moomin, or James yet so will find out if they are still up for coming too - get in touch ASAP guys!!.

If you want anymore details then feel free to either PM me on here, chat to meet at the London meet on Thursday, email me at collison_williams@yahoo.co.uk or leave a post on here and i'll be happy to answer it.

Dear All,

For those making their own way there, the pub is NOT in Calne, it's in Compton Bassett; approx 4 miles ENE of Calne.

For those who rely on satnav (I prefer the Mark One Eyeball) the postcode is SN11 8RG.

Hope to see lots of you there.

Mike.

I have been checking up for hotels near the meeting place (The White Horse Inn in Compton Bassett) for the mud meet in on Saturday and these are the cheapest i've found so far which are not too far away from it.................

MARSH FARM HOTEL
Room prices starting from £35
Coped Hall, Wootton Bassett, Wootton Bassett, Swindon, Wiltshire
Link: http://www.starstay.com/ahotels/showhot ... _id=111410

THE SCHOOL HOUSE HOTEL
Room prices starting from £34
Hook Street, Swindon, Wiltshire
Link: http://www.starstay.com/ahotels/showhot ... _id=111429

These were ther cheapest so far that i could find but will have another look later (looked at the Travelogde and Holiday Inn hotels nearby and they are charging £50/£65 a nite!!).

I will certainly be present but will decide on the day whether or not to participate. Sorry I can't be more specific than that.

I have heard that Dolly won't be there cos her sister's just about to have a baby and her Gran is ill. These close Irish families....

Good luck with it all, guys. I hope the weather is okay for you. I may be in St Len's if it is but we'll be thinking of you, and hoping you post some pics soon after.

Post up some photos for us to see. By the way it is getting a bit too cold for an outdoor mud meet which is one of the reasons I didn't go.

I thoroughly enjoyed the meet, many thanks to Sploshman for organising it. Wonderful to see Moddermonster all the way from Belgium just to wallow in a muddy English pond - now thats real dedication for you! Also to at last meet Mike whose work I have admired for ages without knowing who he was.
Leon was a real star for bringing lots of warm water for us to get cleaned up. He also brought Lisa and Viv(?) who were great sports and although not actually entering the pond were suitably muddied and drenched!

Here's to the next time :D

Richard.

p.s. I tried washing the clothes I had worn and they came out remarkably well! I don't think I shall be wearing them for formal dinner parties though.
*Thinks, I wonder if Zanussi would sponsor future events*

I think everybody has gone to ground Hayley, or got struck with the dreaded lurgy from that lethal Wiltshire mud. I have developed a streaming head-cold but as I went swimming yesterday (Sunday) without my cossie that may have something to do with it  .

Regarding pictures, my camera has died I think  , It has been playing up ever since I tried to capture my solo session so I wasn't surprised when Sploshman couldn't get anything useable from it. I think maybe I got custard in the works!

Oh well, I'll just have to buy another one  .

However there were other cameras around so - come on folks let's have some evidence that we were really there :) .

Rich.
