Leeds Splunch II - Saturday 4th August (official release)

Postby TottyMcGee » 12 Jun 2007, 00:17

Blatantly copied from the last one, with a few edits - do help spread the word! :)

The second Leeds Splunch will take place around 2:00pm-6:00pm on the afternoon of Saturday 4th of August in the upstairs room of Blayd’s Bar, 3-4 Blayd’s Yard, Lower Briggate, Leeds.
If things are swinging, interested parties can then carry on together elsewhere to sample the delights of Leeds’ nightlife.

What is a “splunch”?
Short for a “sploshers’ munch”. We could have called it a Wunch (wammers’ munch) but like splunch better, evoking as it does the sound of a large, sloppy pie landing squarely on the face.

A munch, for those that don’t know, is simply a social meet of pervy folk in a vanilla environment to get to know each other and have a drink together. No actual play takes place at munches, but they are a great place for meeting potential play partners and setting up future sessions.

Who’s welcome?
Everybody over 18 interested in WAM/sploshing/messy fun/quicksand/wetlook and related kinks, whether male, female, transgender, straight, gay or bi.

What are the rules?
Basically be civil and have fun. A munch is neither an out and out pick-up joint nor is it Wammers’ Anonymous.
Because we have a private room in the venue (which itself is discreetly tucked away in back alley) we have a bit more freedom than we might have if we met in Weatherspoon’s, but keep it decent and always respect others.

Dress – come as you like, within reason (ie wear something and keep the little buddy out of sight). Moderate fetish wear and crossdressing is perfectly acceptable.

Conduct – if someone doesn’t want to talk, respect that. Respect people’s limits and don’t be a jerk about getting only what you want. Just chill out, keep it positive and have fun!

Smoking – No smoking is permitted in the upstairs room, so nicotine addicts will need to go to the public bar downstairs if they wish to light up.

Drinking – as much as you like! The management at Blayd’s have very kindly granted us use of the room for free, so make it worth their while by buying lots to drink! J

Eating – There will be a communal buffet table set aside, any items you may like to bring to contribute to the buffet table will be very much appreciated.

Shilling – if you are a WAM producer and want to bring along some stuff to try and sell you are welcome to do so, let me know in advance and I’ll set aside a table for you to display your wares. There is no charge for this.

How can I get to this merry beano in the People’s Republic of West Yorkshire?
Blayd’s Bar is just a few minutes’ walk from Leeds central train station, so getting there by rail from anywhere in the country should be straightforward and there are several car parks nearby.

From the railway station, cross the road to the East (towards Boar Lane) and turn right, going down Swinegate through the left hand tunnel under the railway past the Cockpit on your left (big Leeds music venue). Go all the way to the bottom, past the multi-storey car park on your left to the junction at the bottom, with a newsagent on the corner and the Malmaison hotel opposite. Turn left up the side street just after the newsagent and bear right into Blayd’s Yard. Blayd’s Bar is on your left.
Grab a drink at the bar and follow the signs upstairs to find the Splunch.

If you come by bus to the bus station, you need to head to the bottom of Lower Briggate. Just below the railway bridge on the right hand side (if heading downhill), between a dentist and a tailor’s shop you’ll find a small alley marked “Blayd’s Passage”. Head up Blayd’s Passage (insert joke here) into Blayd’s Yard.

You can see the location marked on a streetmap of Leeds [a href=”http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=430193&y=433232&z=1&sv=430193,433232&st=OSGrid&lu=N&tl=~&ar=y&bi=~&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf”]here[/a].

Hmm, sounds like it might be pricey. I’m an utter tightwad, you know.
Entry to the splunch is completely free. Look forward to seeing you there!

can i just add that the smoking ban will be inplace by then so those of us who are nicotine addicts will have to smoke outside.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this as it is right in the middle of the school holidays which is a very very busy time for me. :(

i was just about to say that!

We've already got the smoking ban here, had it since the end of April. Going to the pub is weirrrrrrrrrrd. Lots of people standing about outside. Lol.

xo

But, back to the SPlunch, i can make this one! :D

The Fountain is dreading the ban. Everyone smokes in there.

Will try and make the Splunch!

Ahem, well spotted. Just testing there, it wasn't because I was so lazy I just copied and pasted the text from the last Splunch or anything.

Here's an idea I'm considering for this splunch which came to me when writing the "shilling" paragraph above; having a table set aside for shilling wares is all good and well, it might also be fun to have a gallery area set up in Tony Hart/Vision On stylee for attendees to display their own pictures and materials (in hard copy, natch, either regular photos, printouts of digital ones or even drawn/painted artwork should anyone have any they want to put on display). Then there's a way for those of us who like to show off to quietly do so, and it could all be an icebreaker for conversation too.

So what do you think, should we have a gallery section at the splunch?

Sounds like a school open day! Just so long as Miss Helen doesn't give out reports on our behaviour over the year, I think that would be fun.

Cool stuff, i have booked my hotel and look forward to going. Also hoping to bring my other half along too.

I booked up a hotel from the Accor group - they do Etap,Ibis and Novatel, all very respectable rates if booked online.

I stayed at Ibis last time, not a bad hotel but just a tiny bit out of town so i went with Etap, no bar but at £32 for up to 3 people with shower, tv etc you can't go wrong and it's in the city center.

See you all there.

Great news! Will be there, and hopefully Lady Jasmine will be able to join us again too, she thoroughly enjoyed the last one.

Hi Helen,

It looks likely that I'll be away then so won't be around. However, I notice that the date is, by coincidence, the same as that for area 3 of the UK wam e-mail distribution groups which is, happily, the area for the North-east. You'd be most welcome to publicise it to the members on the distribution list if you would like to. (For reasons I've never understood, the north-east is the smallest of the groups after northern scotland so there aren't many on it but you might find that they'd come along, given that this is why they signed up - to get info on Splunch-type activities.)

By the way, while I remember, I'm hoping that we can duplicate the Warrington meet (on Sat 20th Oct.) that you came along to last year. SlapStickSlosh has done some good work tracking down a better pub than last time. I'll post up some details nearer the time (assuming I don't get sucked into the 'work time warp' again, like I have been over the last few months!).

Good luck with the Splunch!

Regards,
C_W

That's a good choice - it's brand new (built last year!) and about 4 minutes walk ffom the venue, or 12 by the scenic route along the river.

Re pictures, might get a couple of the Gungemaster ones printed as proper A3 posters (though will have to check costs) and put them up if that's OK with Miss Helen.
