dd,

Decadent Doll!-My day at Tiswas!
My nerdy bit....
Yes there are lot of companies selling repro Tiswas teeshirts (some with the Flinger, others not) but you want one from the show itself!
We find Natrasol gunge even coloured doesn't stain if you use poster paint to colour it (as most of the prepared ones do). If you use the helisarin dyes that Noel used (very strong colours) they do stain.
Good to hear the behind the scenes stories from you all, but SHOCKED at the waste of pies! Good job we weren't invited!
Sorry for the false 'heads-up' about the Radio Times. It won't be the first time they have promoted a feature that gets delayed or a series that never made it. I can remember the Radio Times proudly announcing that next week's issue would be all about The Melting Pot, a Spike Milligan comedy series. Neither the feature or the series ever appeared (nor is likely to as it was extremely policitcally incorrect by modern standards), however a lot of the material is used in his book, The Looney, should anyone be interested.
Sorry, back to editing Gilly's latest foam pie film!

Some good answers and questions on this thread. I'm glad Dolly had a grand day out. Personally I think I would gone on the same side of the fence as Driversoft and say it all sounds a bit PC for my liking.
I think after shelling out for hotels and trains etc, I would have felt it a bit of anti-climax after shelling out for eveything. As Bill put it 'FUCKING HEALTH AND SAFETY' Its interesting to hear from Both Peter and other people from the Tiswas Forum saying how Chris got an ear bashing even before the camera's rolled. AS for signing a form for pies!!!! I'd never do another event again. You'd all have to sign a hundred forms!!!!!!!!
Please dont think I am trying to bring the event down I'm not, I am looking forward to seeing it on tv. Just knew what would happen though.
Still know I'll be jumping up and down when I see Dolly on National Telly though..... thats rocks.
regards
Andy

Have to agree with Andy and Driversoft here.
I imagine it was so ace to be in the studio and see all the TISWAS faces back together ... as well as the other guests.
But on the WAM front, sounds like a damp squib. No female celebs got messy. No mayhem. That isn't what we want.
I might have guessed the people in charge would clamp down on it, but it seems such a shame when MOM and Dik and Dom were allowed to do such crazy mess scenes in the last yearor two. When I think of TISWAS, I immediately think of chaotic messy scenes.
Glad DD enjoyed the experience - and I know I would have loved to have been in the audience, even without the WAM I'd wished for. Shame.

I'm just about to start discussions on this with a producer behind the show. It appears all the Tiswas Reunited t-shirts ran out well before Monday. New ones can be made though, in limited quantity.

Apparently Matthew and Chris used up the pies in a pie-fight just half an hour we left. I'm gutted!

Our site may well be taking orders for actual official Tiswas Reunited t-shirts in the near future, through an arrangement with the exec producer, who's in charge of all these things.

I have evidently been hiding under a rock! Jon told me all about this last night. Gosh! My jaw hit the deck! I'm far to young to remember seeing Tiswas on the tele, but would've temporarily moved back to the UK just to be part of the show!!
I know you've posted before and after pics DD, but do you have any in-between pics? I would've given my right leg to have been in that cage with you all - especially after a drink or three!

Watch out for fridges in public spaces...
I am a little behind on-line recently as well, but anyway, thanks DD for sharing your stories of the day itself !
I will look forward to seeing the show when it is on. I am sure Peter will let us know when to have a ' quiet ' evening in !

Who ate all the pies ? What a waste of pie !

Rather impossible - the crew were strict about photos not being taken during the show. Even the VIPs couldn't do so.

I've let it be known that I'd have traded my green room ticket to swap places there.
Our colleague Matthew, having been a 6 year old singing rabbit on the show originally, managed to get into a pie-fight with CT half-an-hour after I left the building - 2 in the morning! Grrr... gutted.

I remember Tiswas as a young child. There was an adult version that I was probably to young to see called OTT but managed to sneak a peak at that after the watershed. Think OTT was more sploshlike as there were girls in bikinis getting slimed and some strip games. There was a nice feeling seeing those hot models get slime dumped on them but couldn't quite place what it was all about
I thought OTT was great but the powers that be pulled it from the schedules
There was an article in the papers called "custards last stand" which explained why it was pulled and I think it was too OTT for the TV bosses. Looking back it was groundbreaking and well ahead of its time.
There was one re-union before in the late 80's on a telefon or something which I remember more vividly so looking forward to seeing this one on TV.

It finished its run, so wasn't quite "cancelled", but no way would Central do a second series in the same format. They were newcomers to the ITV network, and got a lot of flak for OTT (understandably).
So there was a 'sort of second series' called Saturday Stayback, which was absolute genius. Very funny stuff - it was like Not The Nine O'Clock News set in a pub. Hardly any messy bits, so it won't be fondly remembered here.

Bits of it were, definitely. But it didn't quite carry any subtlety. The beauty of the adult humour in Tiswas, was that it was there under a veil. With OTT, it was straight out in-yer-face - single entendre humour. It was rather crude, but there was 5 mins of good stuff in each episode.

Telethon 88. I believe that was in the same studio as Reunited. We have a recording somewhere.

On a related note, last night I came home and switched on C4 just in time to see Lenry Henry, as a guest host for the Paul O'Grady show, being covered in pies and buckets of slop while remarking "This brings back memories". I didn't see the full item, but was wondering if this had anything to do with the reunion show, in particular if it signifies an imminent screening?

I did see the whole thing! In my new freelance role, I get to see daytime telly!
Frank Carson was on the same show and despite that (presumably cos relations between ITV and C4 aren't great) no mention was made of Tiswas at all beyond that jokey reference.
The slapstick sketch - him getting pied, soaked and gunged - was nicely done I thought. Very GSH! Bill saw it too, apparently, and said Lenny's delivery was excellent. And it was getting laughs which shows that slapstick IS still funny.
But nothing about Tiswas, I'm afraid.
love
