Hmm the babelfish translator is down at the moment it seems, but for the most part it sounds like a good time was had by all. Did you get to see Holly Willoughby? Did she get gunged too???

It's great to hear you had a great time in the cage DD. Hopefully when

I bet you'll remember you time in the cage the rest of your life.

Well, it could be very soon cos my edition of Radio Times for 28th April has a promo for a Tiswas feature in the 5th May issue which suggests that it will be shown on Bank Hol weekend sometime. It will definitely be on ITV 1 and probably early evening.

Bill

PS I also see that they have moved the Touring Car racing to ITV 3, the bastards, and I only have terrestrial!

Well, Chris was there the day before!

DecadentDoll wrote:Peter Thomas *waves hellloooo!* arrived looking very cool in pvc trousers and a Clash shirt! That would have looked ace in the cage!!!

I only did that at the last minute. Everyone looks cool in a Clash t-shirt, but to do the 70s punk even further, I remembered my old PVC trousers, I could just about fit in them!

My girlfriend looked at me with a gone-out face in the hotel, shocked that I'd walk from Covent Garden, across the river and into a pub. Well, I did, and on the way we walked past Micheal Grade (so, the most powerful and richest celeb I saw that day, and he's not even in the show!).

You were the first person I recognised in that pub! And the Belfast accent threw me...

Heh... Stephen Mulhern and Dick and Dom also had to sign release forms, simply to have a pie in the face. Dom told me how puzzled he was at that. Stephen was a really nice guy to talk to.

Ah, that'll be Monique then!

That's a lie, because it sometimes does!

DecadentDoll wrote:Lenny Henry and Frank Carson popped by saying they'd get a photo with us, but they'd prefer to do it when we're covered in gunk!

Good move.

DecadentDoll wrote:We went down to the main studio, where Mouse was waving and blowing kisses.

Wow, Mouse - I 'knew' her through a friend of a friend from years back, I was pleased to have met her in the flesh!

DecadentDoll wrote:I swear I couldnt get the cheesy grin off my face, after the warm up acts and the music came on, we all stood in the cage in this collective jittery madness.

You were ALWAYS at the front throughout!

DecadentDoll wrote:The tub above the cage was filled with lots of foamy water and coloured gunk. I kept thinking "DO i want to be at the front of the cage? Do i want to feel the full force of that gunk? I want both goddammnnittttttt:!"

DecadentDoll wrote:I almost fainted. Sally James rocks!!!!!!!

Aye... still looking good after all these years!

DecadentDoll wrote:They showed lots of clips, and sang all the old songs, lots more buckets of freezing water and mess came and went. The other cagers swapped about, and i offered to swap, but some of them were getting too cold so I was at the front copping the full lot!

Brilliant! I knew two of the Cage people having met them the year before. The rest, well, I've spoken with them over the interweb for a while.

DecadentDoll wrote:Status Quo!!!! came on stage, right beside the cage, and they copped a lot off the *duh duh duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh* Phantom Flan Flinger :)

I met him in the bar afterwards, sans costume. He terrified me even further!

DecadentDoll wrote:Dick and Dom were in the audience along with Stephen from M.O.M and they copped some punishment too!

I was with Stephen when he collected a shirt from ITV Wardrobe. Dick's shirt was his own, and it was ruined! (See my photos)

DecadentDoll wrote:BOB CAROLGEES AND SPIT!!! I dont care how long he's been doing it, the man just makes me laugh so much.

That was the best routine I've seen him do! And he remembered me from having interviewed him years ago.

DecadentDoll wrote:He also was taken aback to hear i'd come from Belfast just to get soaked, saying "cor you're enthusastic!"

Oh, Bob went out on a pub crawl with an ex-boss of mine in Belfast.

DecadentDoll wrote:And tis true, was more wet and foamy than messy but all the same it was like Christmas come true!

I wish it was messier. Some WAM fans will be disappointed.

DecadentDoll wrote:I dont want to give away the whole lot, it'll be on ITV on a Saturday evening in the next month....might even only be 3 weeks away.

Good and bad news. It's postponed 'til about June. But it's getting a longer slot, because ITV management were well chuffed about the show! More news at my site...

For those waiting with baited breath to ascertain whether any female 'celebrities' ended up messy, I can put you out of your misery - they didn't (not as far as I noticed, anyway!).

Sally James, nevertheless, looked even foxier than I remember. Chris Tarrant was a good sport, even capitalising on his current 'reputation' for the odd joke (although they'll censor some of the lines for broadcast, I'd guess), and Bob Carolgees didn't look any older (than I remember, anyway...). Frank Carson can still tell the odd joke aged eighty, and Lenny Henry is still - well, Lenny Henry. They did show a number of the most famous Tiswas Clips (ah, memories!) too.

There was a warm-up man (and throughout the show too - but as he more than occasionally derived 'laughs' only at the expense of, and by embarrassing audience members, I'd not rate him).

It was, of course, inevitable that the whole thing, whilst very enjoyable, would be an anti-climax (withh the exception of the cage participants, obviously) - the occasionally dubious and unrehearsed nature of the original Tiswas shows has long since been legislated away, indeed, the audience were issued with plastic macs (so much for anarchy!) for the finale - "The bucket of water song".

Still, they did announce the set would be for sale in some way - and I believe the Tiswas Fan Club had expectations of acquiring "The Cage".

It wasn't that long ago that I'd punch someone in the face when they pissed me off; now I just delete them from Facebook - that'll show the mother-fuckers...

I heard Chris Tarrant mention at the after show party that health and safety at ITV gave him an earbashing before the show.

They had to be so careful where they threw the water and mess. Andy Walmsley who designed the set and made the pies said he left loads of unused pies behind the set, which the stragglers from the party made use of at 2am - most of us had left by then.

Curses!

Nice to meet you at the pub DD.

Gareth (from the Cage) asked me to raise the issue with exec producer Mike, which I have done.

The other person asking me to help get a t-shirt was the Phantom Flan Flinger himself (sans costume) at the aftershow party! Again, I don't work for ITV, so there was nothing I can do!

Ahhh health and safety!!!! I noticed the table full of pies backstage and poked my hand in one, such a shame they werent used!

As for it being an anti climax (Driversoft) im sure there are several ways of nit picking at it

Nonetheless I had an amazing time and i'llalways remember it.

Shame us cage dwellers couldnt go to the aftershow party!

I'd love "the cage" for my stage acts, but im not made of money so thats doubtful even if it did go on sale, im sure the competition to get it would be rather fierce!
