There's a good place in dry weather on Thursley Common.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Thursley,+Surrey,+United+Kingdom&layer=&ie=UTF8&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=43.037246,76.201172&z=13&ll=51.155878,-0.692997&spn=0.066861,0.14883&om=1&msid=113361715590749985776.00000111c4257de599e16&msa=0

To get there drive south from Guildford on the A3, turn round at the Thursley turning and either park in one of the laybys on the side road to Thursley or by a gate on the A3 itself.

If you walk roughly north along the side of the common, you will eventually come to a smallish lake. Walk round the lake (you might need to bush bash in places) to the stream end (not the dam end). If it's been dry for a while, there's quite a lot of deep mud (plus a friendly swan or two).

Just remember you need a good three weeks of dry weather for the lake level to drop and uncover the mud..
