Andy, i can understand why you're getting annoyed.

BUT - some of the applications ...if you think about it, probably had some explicit photos attached and im sure a few people probably wrote their fantasies about Sally James and co.

I'm all for freedom of expression, you know this. But researchers and people handling the applications may well have been freaked out by this. Yeah people were turned on by Tiswas at the time, im sure of it. But at the same time the programme makers aren't purposefully going to put randy people in there...with strangers.

There have to be guidelines.

That being said, I think we can all appreciate Peter taking the time to explain his side of things, and we've all got our point across.

Oh, and Peter... the email address does indicate my taste in music, tis true!

Good luck to all applicants and I hope sincerely nobody was intrusive enough as to attach pornographic shots of themselves, because sensibly, that isnt going to impress anyone.

Lots of Love

Very little really, although I was at the London Studios when ex-MP Neil Hamilton was locked in a cage (hmm...) and got buckets of fish poured over him. Real fish. It stank.

BillShipton wrote:I agree entirely with your early statement about the demise of kids TV. ITV have now given up entirely apart from their CITV channel

'Tis pretty daft. Saturday morning TV has created established stars like Chris Tarrant, Ant and Dec, Lenny Henry and celebrated producers such as Neil Buchanan and Andrea Arnold.

Hmm... that BBC-ripping-off cookery show that ITV were doing, it got the can a while back, due to bringing in even lower ratings than Saturday Showdown, and the other terrestrial channels too!

Recently I saw on ITV, among the diet of cheap imported toy adv... er, cartoons, an original(ish) programme by ITV. The two wolf puppets from MoM/Showdown running a game show where losing kids get dropped into a vat of gunge - very much like Get Your Own Back. Still no match for TMi though.

"Hello mum" was invented by the cartoonist on Tiswas who come up with the audience placards!

Yeah, I like my mess with a healthy dose of comedy.

BillShipton wrote:Saturday morning television rocked. I wonder how long before some satellite station comes up with the "brilliant, new" idea of linking all the cartoons on a morning with some comedy, news, etc from a studio like they did 30 or so years ago at ATV Centre?

Apparently Nickelodeon put some kind of linking device together on weekday mornings, but I've not had the time to watch it.

Think about this rationally. It's a contest where there's a judge. You may win. You may not win. That's the way it goes. You can't always get what you want, as Mr Jagger once said. Do you think ITV should just let anyone in who asks?

I'm not even the judge, so don't turn your anger on me.

Well said, especially as there'll be clips of people of all ages being pied, gunged, soaked, etc. Tiswas didn't and will not present messyness as sexy when you realise that the same treatment was given to kids, so it would be dodgy ground if they did!

There's a very very twisted forum post about Tiswas Reunited on UMD...

Ronaldinhollew wrote:I've read the BBC website, it's a one off speial, and there's not going to be that much WAM on it! All the guests are male! It's not actually TISWAS, it's a rememberance service, honouring the show! I bet it'll be rubbish. Children's TV has gone down-hill. There isn't a single gunge-orientated show on the BBC or ITV.

What happened to the rumour that NHP was coming back to our screens? It's rubbish. There's no place to go for a purveyor of non-nude TV gunge like myself.

What an absolute tit this guy is. Got his 'facts' wrong and then has the audacity to demand that kids TV caters to his personal whims, jeez. Since when has Sally James been male? And maybe he should know that I'm in touch with the very guy making the pies for this programme.

Aye. I wouldn't want to be in a confined space for two hours next to a bloke with a boner!

Well, you can't attach pictures to the applications anyway. There's been about three applications that blatantly did not do the authors any favours whatsoever. The majority (90%ish) have been fine.

I might have this all wrong, but I think Andy thought that you meant you wouldnt be putting those applications through to ITV, ie you are "playing at GOD" by filtering those out. Did you mean that or that you dont think they'll get through the rounds of judging that ITV will do?

Either way I agree with Decadent Dolls point about some people getting freaked out and the need for guidelines.

Not true. All applications automatically go directly to the ITV researcher who is the judge of it, the show producer and the five members of TiswasOnline. I know for a fact that Andy's application went to ITV.

The only filter I've put in is an anti-spam one, and basically, it stops spammers using the form page to send e-mail to bcc'd lists. We use lots of anti-spam methods on the site.

muckypup wrote:Did you mean that or that you dont think they'll get through the rounds of judging that ITV will do?

I don't think some people will get in due to the "I love getting pouring food over myself while naked, see me at www.muckyjohn... type of stuff - the obvious WAMmers. Just my speculation. I could be wrong.

There are those of you here who approached it with a better angle, without the sexuality. Again, this is just my speculation. If I was a WAMmer, I wouldn't mention it in my application, the same way I wouldn't have a big smile on my face if I was a transvestite going for a job interview at New Look!

Muckypup had hit the nail straight on the head, thats how it was worded and thats how it came across. Those who have met me and those have worked with me at messy events, Should by now know it takes a lot for me to get on me soap box. This really did get my back up. Maybe Peter worded it the wrong way, maybe I took some of it the wrong way. I still feel very strongly about people appearing to be-little other people. Don't stand for it in business and will not move over for it in my private life.

I have a lot of time for the friends I have made through Bills events and the site's i am assoicated with. I am going to let it go now. As muckypup appears to have understood where I was coming from.

Thanks to Bill and Hayley, for not locking the thread. Big Hugs to Dolly for not coming on screaming and telling me to shut up.

All the best to Peter for the future.

Interesting thread. I'm glad to see that the producers of the reunion show are aware of the fetish interest, because my personal POV is that anyone who has an actual WAM fetish (i.e. for whom mess is *always* erotic) shouldn't be involved. Leave it to people for whom messiness is just slapstick fun.

Yes, TISWAS was great and seeing cute members of whichever gender being thoroughly gunged on TV probably turned a lot of people on to the possibilities of WAM in later life. I have three vivid memories from the show, one of Sally James in head-to-toe black being deluged with gallons of water and foam pies, and another of Chris Tarrant wearing jeans and a rugby shirt standing waist deep in the sea, and one of everyone in the cage being blasted with a foam cannon.

But it was a kids show. I watched it as a kid, it was part of my growing up. I don't watch kids TV now, I'm an adult. What was reasonable when I was 11, 16, early 20s even, isn't now I'm approaching 40. These days, if I want to see people sploshing each other, I also want to know that they know that part of the audience is getting an erotic kick out of it.

Hope I've not offended anyone with this post!

I pretty much agree with you there DMO . . . .

Aside from the last paragraph because on the flip side, whatever I watch at home and what I might derive from it, has no bearing on the performers themselves. They are in effect unaware. Since anyone can have absolutely any fetish TV is littered with opportunities for almost anyone all at the touch of a button !

But yes, keep fun fun and fetish fetish. In the latters' case, fetish is fun anyway . . . er, you can't have your cake and throw it . . . so to speak !

I am sure most people actually share, somewhere between yours and mine, this view !

You've got me jealous! None of the TiswasOnline team were allowed in the Cage. They are using the most authentic pies and gunge that's available.

See you in the bar after the show?
