The group will have to traverse a red carpet assault course as this week's shopping budget task.

This afternoon Jade relayed the invitation to the other housemates: "Housemates, Big Brother formally invites all housemates to attend a red carpet event later this afternoon." The group was told to prepare for the event during the afternoon, using clothes provided.

However, the housemates were not informed of the true nature of the task, which is in fact an assault course. The group must negotiate obstacles such as a gunge-filled VIP Pit, a Champagne Fountain and a Crawl of Fame, among other fame-themed obstacles with a gungy twist.

Along the way they will collect an award. If the housemates all complete the course within nine minutes, they will receive a luxury shopping budget; failure will result in basic rations.

The housemates were confused about what the task would actually entail. "Then what, you just stand on the red carpet," asked Jo. "We're going to look like fruit or something," Ian suggested.

Jade made the closest guess: "The red carpet might have all this slush on it, and it might be the task to walk down it no matter what comes your way."

fingers crossed that the housemates are too stupid to know what goggles and safety equipment are. I can see at least three of them being a bit too daft to realise this.

Not me, I'm afraid but (goggles and helmets aside - is natrasol THAT scary for celebs?) but that is the best messy thing BB has done that I have seen. The posing for a photo at the end gave a nice messy portrait for the freeze framers too! I didn't tape it but if somebody did, I'm sure stills would be appreciated.

Natrasol is like celeb kryptonite possibly?

But.... i did like danielles boobs coming out, im in love with cleo and Jade, what fun! she really went for it!

I JUST caught this when I got in last night - and what a pleasant surprise!

Looked a lot of fun but it must have been FREEZING, especially the hanging around afterwards. Yes, Jade, Cleo, Danielle and Jo did well. Even Shilpa didn't moan that much considering she's a megastar known by EVERYONE in India (according to her). I'm not getting into the racist debate here, but regardless of her background, she is quite snooty.... I mean, rightly or wrongly, Jade is probably known by everyone in Britain! Anyway...

Talking of which, am I the only person to have thought of relaunching The Goodies starring Jade, her mad Mum and her idiot boyfriend? I can see the trandem now!

Yep I too tuned into too see the messy bit, loved the natrasol, wonder how many kettles they put on to make that, loved seeing the girls in the evening dresses!!!

Also have to agree with Bill loved the ending where they had to pose for the pic.

Also giggled my head of at Dirk actually doing a proper autograph.
