I love the thought of this pub though, I wonder however what an "Ol Git" of 59 years would look like attempting to look "Goth" (namely ME) Laughing Laughing Laughing


This illustrates the difference between goth as we know it (a scene populated by fogeys of all ages) and goth as the mainstream media see it (spookykids). I know a few goth couples who are grandparents, and at least one who are great grandparents!

Thats maybe because Goth is 23 years old now. Its the same with the punks aswell as punk is 30 years old, I used to be a punk 20 years ago. And heavy rockers and skinheads too for that matter. Those cults have been around for so long that they now span generations.

They're both younger than me! :( I was born in the days of hippies!

Anyways, good to see the ball rolling on the "Splosh meets"!

Evening does sound like a better idea!

I suggested a Friday as being quieter than a Saturday, while still allowing anyone who can do the overnight to get a Saturday in London out of it as well. But if people would prefer a Saturday, that could be done too.

The Dev tends to be loud in the evening - the DJs come on between 6 and 8 and the volume goes up, which is what the regular clientelle want. It's very good music (well, I would say that!) but talking becomes harder.

Mind this is just a suggestion, if anyone has a better idea, pipe up!

A Saturday would be better for me personally ... but saying that if I come down for a Fri afternoon I'd stay at friends overnight and we can always have a Saturday repeat for those that enjoy it or can't get there as working etc ...

On Goth it started in 1976 really alongside Punkwith Damned/Siousiox ... yes they were Punks first but not as well!

The age range of the Dev I would say is 18 to 60! Would say the average age would be mid 30's really ...

One thing worth keeping an eye on would be what gigs are on at that time as there are usually a couple of Camden Goth/Electro specials in March/April time which mean earlier its busier and later in eve its quiet ...

The back is perfeck .. been to bibliogoth meetings in that area in past with maybe 15-20 people round the tables ..

I'll have a hunt round on other event dates for March time ...
