"Bow down & hear our cry our earthly rulers faulter our people drift & die, the walls of gold entomb us the swords of scorn divide, take not thy thunder from us take away our pride"

HUGE Maiden fan, childhood hero`s of mine. First band i ever saw live on the `No prayer for the dying tour` 15th December 1990. I borowed my older brothers biker jacket & had hair an inch over my collar. It was like that episode of the Simpsons when Bart & Milhouse go and see Spinal Tap ? I would have them on my Splosh playlist but my love for Maiden is only matched by Piella`s hatred for them. Ah ya win some............

Meatloaf parody hmmmm that sounds like it has some legs "Splat out of hell ? Directions to the cloak room please

I must try saying that at our club & see what reaction I get.

Hi Madrox

I saw Maiden twice. Once at Donnington when Seventh Son was out. The second time was just some low-key British tour to support tht album with 'The Assassin' on it (which I didn't like at all).

At the risk of hijacking this thread, some mates and I recently tried listing our top 5 maiden songs. So ... what are yours? (in order of preference where 1 rocks the most)

1. Hallowed Be Thy Name (Number Of The Beast)
2. The Trooper (Piece Of Mind)
3. The Evil That Men Do (Seventh Son)
4. The Number Of The Beast (Number Of The Beast)
5. The Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner (Powerslave)

Though it's a close thing, TBH, they've released so many classic tracks!

Saw them live at Donnington in 92, also at Ayr in 90, Ingleston (Edinburgh) when they announced that "Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter" was to be their Xmas single, "and f**k Cliff Richard and his White Suit!", as Bruce put it. Seen them quite a few other times too, most recently in Sheffield a year or two back. They still rock live just as they did 20 years ago - well worth seeing.

Maiden!!! Maiden!!! Maiden!!! Maiden!!! Maiden!!! Maiden!!! Maiden!!! Maiden!!! :D

I am a bit out of date in my taste........You'll all probably think I'm talking rubbish...... and I probably am.

John Otway - Cor Baby That's Really Free, Cheryl's Going Home - for general sploshing- merriment with a hint of madness.

The Velvet Underground - for general fetishism - when I listen to them I can imagine I am in seedy New York club, where you can't tell if the barperson is a man or a woman - Venus In Furs, Take a Walk on the Wild Side, Sunday Morning.

Bob Dylan - he seems to describe very well that secret, indefinable thing that men really like, and maybe envy, about women - She Belongs To Me (the title is ironic), Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands, Abandoned Love. And for the same reason I would choose another personal favourite, Leonard Cohen - Suzanne, Famous Blue Raincoat.

Well, I suppose they're just songs I like really - with me being a bit pretentious about them.

Love Velvet Underground, j'adore. They are nice sleazy amazing songs.

I also love cheesy power metal rock songs like Hearts on Fire from rocky 4... perfect for a messy montage ;)

I think perhaps something soft and gentle so as not to drown out loving conversation. Perhaps a Chopin prelude (piano) or a soothing raga on the sitar so that both participants can relax and enjoy the experience together.
