Hi Matt

I put a movie on youtube and I added the little tag words ... that will help people to find me when they search.

However - when I try to search for my own movie .... even using exact tag words .... it can't find it.

Is that because it needs to be in the system fora while before their search will pick it up???

We've got the odd movie up there - our channel's at http://www.youtube.com/wamdrogony .

In answer to your question, it depends on how common your tag words are. Bear in mind that it won't recognise phrases, so, for example, "playing the guitar" will come out as "playing", "the" and "guitar".

What's the movie and tag words you're asking about?

Hi Miss Helen

I don't want to reveal my movie on the Splosh forum - it's not WAM related, but it is related to my 'day job' ...

But for example ... say if I made a splosh video and put it up there ... and used the tags: splosh messy fun custard bucket

...surely typing in 'custard splosh' would bring it up wouldn't it?

...yes. But then you wouldn't be competing with as many other movies as you would be if your tags were, for example, "football, goal, manchester, united". In that case any combination of those four words would bring up tens of thousands of matches, and they wouldn't even all be about Manchester United or football - for instance there might be movies in there illustrating the goals of the United Way.

This is why it's hard to say without more information. You're better off just looking at the information on your videos page (if it's live, it'll be obvious from that) and seeing what the viewing figures are like. If no sod's watching, either it really is falling outside the radar of the search engine or (more likely) you simply need to re-work the title, description, tags and maybe directory placement a little to make it stand out more. It could be your movie is there when you search the tags, but only if you click through to the 97th page of entries.

Miss Hellen is correct
( as usual! )
I can't add much to what she says
but I did have to wait 12 hours before mine was posted up

Re tags...
try to alter them if you are not getting many hits.

I understand what you're both saying .... but the fact is that my movie isn't as general as Man U / Football.

In fact it's even more specific than Splosh!!!

So when I type in two exact tags from my list of 8 tags, it gives a list of 7 videos - but not including my own!!! Even though two of my tags match exactly to what I've typed in.

That's what I'm not getting!
