A bit of nostalgia

Chat, flirt and fantasise about everything wet and messy

I think DVD recorders will also record onto CDs so it should be easy to link the record player to the DVD using ordinary audio cables. I haven't tried it yet but have been intending to when I have time.

If you go on to maplin.co.uk and try Item number A42 FU there's a bit of kit called Music Clean

or QVC.co.uk have an Item or 553108

Or if you've got a TV card or an audio line in on you pc you AV lead from the stereo should plug in but it won't clean the music up of course

hope that helps

Since Bill reached the horrendous age of 51 about an hour and a half ago, my guess is that somebody has taken him to an all night drinking den!

Yes, I noticed the 10,000th post. Fucking brilliant. But that is down to you guys so thanks.

I'd settle for a pie from 1 per cent of you!

I'm sure more than 1% of us would be delighted to give you one! :-)

For the transfer of vinyl, you can't feed the output of the decks straight to a soundcard. It needs not only to be pre-amplified but the pre-amp needs to be RIAA-equalised (i.e. designed for input from a vinyl deck). This is because the frequency response of vinyl records was deliberately attenuated at low frequencies and boosted at HF. This had the advantage of reducing HF noise and avoiding excessive excursions of the cutting head, thus allowing greater packing density on the vinyl.

If you want to preserve a decent quality, you'd be far better using a specialist recording interface rather than a bog standard sound card in a PC, which usually has a pretty poor signal to quantising noise ratio. Buy a copy of Sound on Sound magazine in WH Smith's and have a look through the adverts.
