Bloody hell. How are you supposed to model underwear when you're expected to lose two stone in a stupid amount of time. The first place you tend to loose weight as a girl is on your boobs!

Well, it was Premier models that told her to lose the weight but wonderbra told her to go with that agency.

I know that magazines, etc, have stock sizes of clothing and things and that is how the business works, but I find it really sick that this still happens in our society and that a gorgeous smart girl like Katie would even think about not eating, and that some people think size 12 is fat.

But seriously, I can see why models need to be size 10 when all the clothes and so on that they model are made for that size, I think the problem is that they weren't up front and honest when they signed her on, and then asked her to slim down and were quite forceful about it. Crash dieting isn't good for anybody.

From a male point of view i think most of the fashion industry including these agencies live on a different planet.

The clothes the girls model are the smallest sizes and they get girls who look accordingly to model them, Yeah, they might show off the clothes to look their best but in all truth just how many women who buy or wear these clothes have that type of figure.

Mercedes is between a size 10/12 and i would guess Eden is about the same as is probably SweetSohie, on the other scale Candy and Dolly are larger BUT i know for a fact having done quite a few shoots with Candy she looks good in the same clothing in her size as do other women whose pics have appeared on this and other forums.

Shame the agencies involved and the clothing manufacturers dont wake up to this fact, they might even sell more clothes

By total coincidence (ie before I heard about the News of the World story) I sent a text to Katie to see how things were going. No reply yet but I'm guessing she is a bit busy what with all this coming out. If she is signed up to a posh agency though, we may not get to see her messy again. Thank God, shaving foam and beans aren't fattening (see below).- though the chocolate might be more of a problem!

I must be very old fashioned but since has a size 12 been fat? We like models in all shapes and sizes from Mouse to Sienna so to us a 12 is small-to-average. However I suspect the 'size' issue might have been a put-up job by either the paper or someone else to get her to be interviewed knowing that they were running the "Lesbian Shock" story, but I may be wrong.

Whatever, we wish her the best of luck whatever her size and she is more than welcome back here any time. She can take a good few pies as you can see!

Well speaking for myself, I'd rather hug a cushion than a toast rack if you follow my analogy.
Size 10 is smallish, anything lower than that seems almost skeletal! You'd worry about breaking bones or puncturing yourself if you gave them a Hug. As for more energetic/horizontal activities with that little flesh between thier bones and you there's a real risk of some nasty bruises! (or worse)

Totally agree there dids, to be honest, it's all a bit ridiculous, but it's just how it is, how it's been for years, and how it's likely to be for the forseeable future. To be fair, size 10 isn't really small, and enough girls are that size (how many of those are healthily that size is another matter though).

I guess the problem they'd have with changing standard sizes would be having to change everything all at once, models, stocks etc etc. It's pretty sad in a way, but business is business, and it's just how things are.

I'd like to point out that I in no way advocate skinny skinny and think Katie, Cede's (of course Eden) are very slim and attractive, the "bigger" girls look great and everything... but that I can just appreciate the way an industry has grown up with a standard.

And I think it's bullshit the way Katie got signed up under false pretenses.

I find it horrific that FHM (ok, she was doing a high street honey thing noti a centre spread or anything) thought she was stunning and gorgeous but as soon as she is modelling for women shes told to lose weight. No comprende. From lapdancing I know that men like girls of all shapes and sizes - when will women catch up?
