Matt, see that little grey box in the top right hand corner of the post you want to answer? Well if you click on it with your mouse (left side front button) it will magically open a reply box with the copy of the post you want to answer at the top. Just like I've done here with your question.
You can delete any stuff you don't want until you are left with the bit you want to reply to. Do not delete the quote or /quote words which are in square brackets([]). Then relocate the curser outside the box and then you can type what you want to say in reply.
Bottoms Up!

How do you do the multiple quote thing where people use more than one box in the same post?
Kind regards, Spinynorman and Frilly
Still messing about after all these years!

It's the same as what i did
you just have to edit the bits out that you don't want
or if you want the multiple bits in - then don't edit them out
try it here
it's fun - speaking as an expert of 3 hours!!

Sorry Spiny & Frilly, my knowledge of html isn't that good. You can copy and paste a passage then add 'quote' in square brackets before and '/quote' after , that will give you the box but I don't know how to get it to say "So-and-So wrote:", try experimenting with the preview option til it comes out right. Or wait for muckypup to tell you.
Bottoms Up!

It's just plain HTML - you can have as many quote boxes as you like, either separately, or even nested, as long as each one's surrounded by the correct syntax - I created the above by using Notepad as a temporary editor, hitting 'Quote' on a post, copying the result into Notepad, then repeating with a second post, finally copying the whole thing from Notepad back - all of ten seconds or so.
For those of you who want to see the HTML quote format without hitting the quote button, I'll try and be clever by getting the codes displayed without them being interpreted as codes:
[quote="jammed06"]i think all it is when there is a double quote its because somones quoted what someone has put which had a quote built into it. doing it manually is a bit harder.]/quote]
Ah - which didn't work - [ is HTML for [, and ] for ], but they're not being rendered as such - probably because full HTML is not being allowed in the forum entries, as that's dangerous - hackers can play then.
It wasn't that long ago that I'd punch someone in the face when they pissed me off; now I just delete them from Facebook - that'll show the mother-fuckers...
