Thanks, Custard Bloke.
Your support is welcome. Let's start a revolution (but not one that beheads the Royal Family...I'd hardly support THAT!) making the world a more PROACTIVE and ENTHUSIASTIC place! Let's be positive about ideas and applaude those who actually get up and do things!
Hurrah!!!
Who else will join this noble quest?

I'm planning a Wet and Messy Event!!!!!
Hi Hayley,
Perhaps you are right - maybe people who were critical of Clare's event did not mean to appear like they were bitching, but - as an impartial observer - it did seem that some people were indulging in that wonderfully British past-time of sniping at people who are prepared to act on their convictions. One thing we can learn from our cousins across the Atlantic is their attitude towards other people's efforts. They applaude, where we tend to pour scorn.
As for getting off one's gunge drenched arse, I suppose that would hardly be an effective rallying cry here, would it?
Cheers

Still Hayley is off working somewhere, you get me instead.
I don't think anyone has 'poured scorn' on anyone (with the possible exception of you!). It certainly doesn't read that way to me, and certainly wasn't intended to. Even if it was, do you think commenting in that way about other people is going to help? I don't think so. Constructive criticism is fine. Being insulting isn't.
Outside in the car park now LOL
If people start to get heated on this forum for whatever reason, I'm afraid we will have to remove their posts.
This is meant to be entertaining not confrontational.

Hi Bill, Hayley et al.
I commence scoffing of large sections of humble pie.
My intent was to stand up for Clare - who I think has a genuinely good idea - and to point out that we should encourage people who show initiative. I realise that my post did seem aggressive and somewhat out of tune with the overall tone of the posts here. For that I do apologise, and hope you all forgive me.
I still think that Clare's idea is a good one, and I will support it in whatever way I can.
Regards

Wow, this post did get out of hand.
Hard to eat pie when your head is in someone elses derriere though.
Hope you managed it.
I, for one, am supportive of any messy event. If i had the money I'd put one on free of charge. Of course living in Belfast it'd be difficult for me to do anything.
But then you have apologised for your agressive tone. I'm sure even Clare wouldn't have thought it necessary.
Ahh, lets all just be happy and nice.

wet and messy sessions
Crikey,
It gets a bit tense here doesn't it! As a survivor of the original Aquantics, Splosh days and countless private sessions, it'es encouraging to see so much enthusiasm for the subject.
Bill is spot on with his description of "participants and non", and frankly i can see both points of view. The solution seems to be ; advertise the event, tell people how much it will cost, get the money up front and only when you've covered costs confirm it will go ahead.Costs refunded if not. Now i realise you need an understanding studio who would be prepered to only ask for a deposit but...you never know. And with the understanding that you can take part or not-the cost is still the same.
I rather suspect that a one day event would be favourite rather than over nighter, but unless someone actually comes up with a definite plan this will just run and run!

I guess it takes a lot of people sticking to their guns really.
I'd be up for what Clare is suggesting in August, apparently she's got a provisional date and all that set up.
Did you happen to get an "I Survived Aquantics" T-shirt? Wish I'd been around to go to them, in 1989 i was about 5.

No couldn't afford one having blown my money on arranging private sessions!! It probably wouldn't fit now, although i'm sure Bill still wears his on special occasions.

I would too

Clare, definitely interested, but have to see when it is, and whether I'm free.
Once a date is confirmed, I'd be happy to pay a deposit or something as a show of 'good faith' that I was serious about attending...
