Well, well, this has all got very heated whilst I've been away.
I am not going to comment beyond the sure and certain knowledge that the LAST thing on anyone here's mind was to "pick' at the meets in whatever form they take. If that is how a mildly amusing comment came over, then that we are sorry. The thread was started not out of any malice but because (at the time) there was no thread on the subject of the meet and we were trying to encourage people to share stories about it. We only made the humorous remark because we thought the dress issue had been resolved sufficiently now to be allowed to be joked about. Apparently not as far as one or two of you are concerned. If we have genuinely caused anyone any offence, we are sorrry.
Having said that, I think humour and the ability to laugh at situations is very important and if people can't do that and instead see everything as criticism then I think that is a shame.
Now there is a thread by James on the meet and the aftermath I am closing this one to stop it developing into another flame war which some people might enjoy but we certainly don't.
Please feel free to continue posting stories about the meet there.
Hayley
PS The suggestion about the private room was more to address the noise/recognition problem rather than anything to do with dress but never mind. It is irrelevant now. A friend has just told us the pub concerned has closed down!
So how did the meet go?
