hi,
is compost good to use for gunge?
i know you can mix water with it.
has anyone used this before?
is it good?

Sounds like a good idea but beware of dodgy chemicals. Perhaps an organic one would be best.

Compost tends to be peat-like. Peat bogs can be fun but tend to be less viscous than clay mud, more "stuff in water" as opposed to smooth clay. So you might have to mix very thoroughly.

I would not reccomend it. Very un healthy and unhygenic. Commercial composts often contain mould spores from traces of old mushroom compost, which comprises of animal manure, simply aged animal manure and I know of one commercial operation that was actually combining the aged sludge from a metropolitan sewage works. Yes, human poo and everything else that wended it's way into the oxidation ponds.
It can also contain the spores / allergens that cause Legioneers disease ( which is normally fatal ).
