Boring but essential stuff about broken links etc.

Spam

Postby Richard » 06 Mar 2008, 10:59

I use the yahoo ID of "sotonude" for all of my wam activities, groups, forums etc. and for no other purpose. A spam mesage has appeared in my email allegedly from a sender called "sotonude". I did not send it and I wondered how it had happened. If anyone else receives one of these, please be assured that it has NOT come from me.
Any ideas on how it could have happened would be welcome.

Rich.

I wouldnt worry about people getting email from you, they probably just spoof everyones address so for example if I got an email it would be from muckypup, or if it was andy250 it'd be from andy250.

Unfortunately its extremly easy to send email to and FROM whoever you like :(

Thanks for that reassurance muckypup. It scared me at the time as I thought I'd been hacked in spite of the firewalls & antibugging system I have in place. I'll keep an eye on it in future in case it happens again.
