Finding a bar on the quayside they were sitting having a quiet drink just relaxing in the sunshine.
Looking arou[/attachment]nd, David spotted a sign further down the quay which advertised a gin distillery. Having a liking for gin he told Linda that he was going to have a look. When he reached the sign he noticed that the distillery offered 90 minute tours followed by a sampling session afterwards .
He noted that the next one started in 15 minutes so he returned to where Linda was sitting and told her saying that he quite fancied the idea.
“Not for me” Linda said “but you go, I’ll be O.K. here for a couple oh fours enjoying the view.” “Well if you’re sure” said David “I can just make the next tour. See you back here in a couple of hours.” And away he went.
Linda had almost finished her drink so swallowed the last of it as David left and picking up her bag decided to have a look at the rest of the shops on the harbour front.
There were shops selling clothes, handbags and of course boating equipment, but as she strolled along she saw a patisserie shop with a window full of gorgeous looking cakes some covered in cream others with chocolate and yet more smothered . with different coloured icing.
“Mmm, “ she thought to herself “my kind of shop, I could just fancy one of them.” And noticing that they had tables and chairs inside, decided to go in.
“Hola” she said “mi Espanol no es bueno hablas ingles?”
“Yes senora” came the answer “Can I help you?”
“Well I love the look of your cakes and pastries, are they home made?” she asked.
“Yes” the man behind the counter said “would you like one?”
“Mmm, yes” she said and pointed to a big slice of creamy looking cake. “I have a couple of hours to fill and that looks like it would take me a while to finish. My husband has just started a tour of the gin distillery down the road.”
"If you would like to sit down at a table said the man "I will bring you a slice over."
Linda sat down and the cake duly arrived. The man then went through a door behind the counter. He reappeared a few minutes later and walked over to her.
"Senora," he said "as your husband is touring the distillery, I have had a quick word with the shop owner and if you would like he has offered you a tour of the bakery. Behind the scenes."
Linda thought about it for a while and then after a look at her watch said " That would be nice and certainly kill some time, thank you."
So she followed the man behind the counter and out through the door marked "Privado" The workside of the shop was not large and she saw no big machinery.
"Do you make everything by hand?" asked Linda.
"Si" replied the man "Let me introduce you to our owner, but I am afraid his English is not good and he sometimes mixes up his words."
The owner's name was Marco and he looked appreciatively at this slim English woman dressed in her quite revealing green bikini top and white denim skirt. "You please me much" he said and when she looked at she him oddly added "Sorry senora I mean pleased to meet you>" "Oh, yes" she laughed " and thank you for inviting me into your bakery for the tour".
"It will be my pleasure to give you one!" said Marco smiling. Linda raised an eyebrow but then remembered his poor grasp of English and smiled at him "I am sure I will enjoy it" she replied.
"O.K. follow me and we shall start at the lovely custard tarts!"
He led Linda round to a large vat into which men were pouring buckets of a fairly liquid white mixture.
"I assume that is the batter for the tart cases?" she asked. "Si, tarts like you? Sorry I mean you like tarts?" "Everyone does don't they?" she replied. "well if you want to have a taste , you can dip your hand in if you want to."
So Linda leaned over the edge of the vat and dipped her hand in the mixture. Just as she did so one of the bakers swung his bucketful of mixture round and without looking emptied it....over Linda's head!
She yelped and stepped back lifting her head at which the sloppy mixture ran down onto her bikini top
."Senora I am so excited, I mean sorry . Are you ok?" Linda scooped the mix out of her eyes ans spluttering said "I think so but what a mess!!"
Quick bring a towel" said Marco and when he was given one he began rubbing on Linda's face then her chest
. "Hey!" she cried "what are you doing!!" " I was just trying to rub it in senora, Er I mean rub it off.!" Linda looked at him suspiciously thinking that perhaps he knew what he was saying!"Perhaps you want to finish now?" said Marco."I am very sorry! You can carry on if you wish."
"Well alright " said Linda "what's next?"
"The custard machine" said Marco and he led the way.
The tart bases had been formed and cooked and now they were all being filled with lovely creamy custard which was directed through a funnel held and moved manually. Marco said "This is Paulo he enjoys squirting ." and he tapped Paulo on the shoulder who, startled, turned round while still gripping the custard nozzle. Linda unfortunately was in the way again and this time her midriff and front of her skirt were covered in custard "Shall I turn it off?" said Paulo who was either a bit slow or enjoying the spectacle. "YESS PLEASE!"" she cried "Oh look at me now! What a mess!"
