Hi Syrup Lover,

have you tried the more frozen dessert style of cake as they do seem to be quite a bit softer once defrosted Something like an ice cream gateau would give you the chance to vary the softness by how long you leave it out.

Alternatively you can get creative like I hope to in the future and make a comedy cake for sitting on. What I am aiming for is a section of padding foam cut to size and shape with a hole cut out of the middle to leave a donut shape. Glue this down to a large platter or board.
Mix up some lovely thick custard or pudding and fill the centre of the cake before making the outside look pretty with squirty cream or shaving foam or whatever your heart desires.
Then sit... or face plant or whatever.

This again should give you the chance to vary the consistency of the cake by adding thicker or thinner substances... although too thin and it will leak away as this is not a water tight thing.

Hopefully you will get a fantastic sensation of goo oozing everywhere you could possibly want.

Messy hugs

Tina

Give a cheesecake a whirl, many different toppings! Toffee is my fave but all worth a try and supermarket own brands are good value, couldn't tell you what they taste like though! Make sure you defrost well though! if you can leave in the fridge, being cool keeps the mixture more solid
